Revealed Near New Stadium
The Orient, a $22-million Oriental recreation - commercial project, will rise on a 65-acre site on the southwest corner of Katella Avenue and State College Boulevard in Anaheim, "just a homerun hit away from the Angel's new ballpark site," it was revealed by John J. Magrann, founder-developer of the project.
The property transaction agreement has been signed by all-parties concerned Magrann indicated, with negotiations by Robert W. McCarter, of McCarter and Associates, representing The Orient, and Frank M. Miller for the sellers. Both agents are members of the Anaheim Board of Realtors.
"Miller who is well-known as an industrial realtor, successfully negotiated for Walt and Roy Disney their Disneyland location just a mile and a half west on Katella from our wonderfully well-located site," declared Magrann.
"With our site position solidified, we will have our management team completed within 60 days." Magrann continued, pointing out that "Authenticity Committees" to guide long-range planning and construction of The Orient are already being organized, and a target date of June 1965 set for completion on the first phase of the project.
"Three long-time and influential members of Southern California's Oriental community have already been named to the Authenticity Committee program," Magrann added.
The three are Katsuma Mukaeda, six-term president of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Southern California, representing the Japanese; Dr. J. N. Sharma, president, Zenith Processing Corp., Santa Monica, representing the Indian people; and Gilbert C. Nee, educator and hospital administrator, representing the Chinese community. They will select and announce the members of their committees during the next six weeks.
The Orient will house a broad range of amusement, cultural, and commercial offerings, all Orient-tinged, Oriental in architecture, and to be operated mainly by Oriental merchants.
Welcoming visitors through a Moon Gate in a 25-foot-high Great Wall of China, The Orient will include attractions ranging from magic carpet rides over a man-made Yellow Sea, to sales rooms and exhibits of export-import firms. A multi-story "Imperial Hotel" and a large three-story structure to house major Asia Trade Fair events are planned.
Behind the Great Wall, will serve as a base for ment rides, with "hau chambers" and other elements in its hollow interior to be The Bazaar, an art specialty shops on the edge of the Yellow Sea, a large ficial lake that will have pans, a sea-serpent ride, lands with restaurants and houses reached by bridges or magic carpets.
Magrann has establishediness offices for the department of his Oriental progran 172 N. Tustin Ave., City range, and at 1127 N. M Road, Los Angeles.

Farm operators in the U.S. lost some $300 million in net income during 1963, as compared with 1962. Most of the 3 per cent drop is attributed to lower average prices, higher operating costs, and some drop in government payments.
