Little League
Holds Breakfast
Mattie Lou Maxwell Park will be the scene for a breakfast, sponsored by the West Anaheim Little League on Saturday, April 11.
Team managers will be cooking and serving between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon.
Ham and pancakes will be served along with milk, juice and coffee. All you can eat for the donation of $1 for adults and 50 cents for children. The pub is invited.
Food for the breakfast is being donated by Ralph's Food Stores.
Match Box Derby Events Slated For GRa-Y’s
The fourth annual Gra-Y Match Box Derby of the Anaheim YMCA will be held at the Y building on Saturday from 10 to 12 a.m. From 50 to 75 boys in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades will participate, under the direction of Gra-Y supervisor Eli Peralta.
Awards will be presented in the categories of most unusual, most attractive, and fastest. There will be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place awards presented by the judges who will be leaders of the various Gra-Y clubs, according to Boys' Program Assistant Don Lattimer. Ten clubs will compete.
On this past Saturday, April 4, induction was held for new Gra-Y members at the Anaheim YMCA building. Clubs inducted were: Giants, Savanna school district, leader Walt Allen; Dodgers, Salk, Pyle, and Walter schools in Magnolia school district, leader Ed Merrell; Gents, Barton, Ley, and Kalella schools, leader, William Poirier; Lancers, Madison, leader, Eli Peralta; Trailblazers, Price and Mann schools, leaders, Allen Kiphut and Larry Burton; Pioneers, Washington. Revere and Franklin schools, leader, Don Dsbennelt; Scorpians, Roosevelt and Guinn Schools, leader, Ora Beach; Mustangs, 4th and 5th graders at Edison, Lincoln and Sunkist schools, leader, Sandy Maisch who is also leader of the 6th grade Beatles from the same schools who were inducted all from Anaheim Elementary School District.
Previously the Wolves from Maxwell, Peter Marshall, Disney, and Sweitzer schools in the Magnolia school district, leader, Bob Finley, were inducted.
Boys who belong to Gra-Y generally attend the same school and live in the same neighborhood. They choose their own members, elect their own officers, and plan their own programs.
They participate in swimming, baseball, basketball games, races, hobby crafts and nature programs. They take trips to factories, parks museums, theaters, and other places of interest and go on.

Greg is a senior at Anaheim High School where he is vice-president of the Key Club. He is a member of and Sunday School teacher at St. Michael's Episcopal Church which honored him in 1962 with the God and Country award. He joined Scouting as an eight-year-old Cub Scout in Pack 170c and graduated into Boy Scouting three years later as a member of Troop 80. Later he moved on to Explorer Post 80 where he was elected its president. Two years later he transferred to Troop 26 where he has held many boy leadership positions.

Other persons honoring Greg on the evening’s program were Albert Heimberger, Greg’s first Scoutmaster; Robert Daw, Greg’s Explorer Advisor; Walt Pearson, District Scout Executive of the Golden Sun District; and Robert Cornelius, Committee Chairman of Troop 26.

The Fullerton Recreation Department's popular Social Dance classes taught by expert teacher Mrs. Diane Herman will renew activities Friday, April 10, at the Amerige Recreation Center, 300 block W. Commonwealth.
Beginners will dance from 7:30 to 9 p.m., Intermediates from 9 to 10:30 p.m. Fee is $15 per couple for ten weeks of instruction.

Gordon Heimer of La Habra and Ted Stewart of Fullerton will be assistant scoutmasters of Troop 43 with Bob Halstead and George Ogata of Anaheim as assistants in Troop 44.

"Greatest Show On Ice"
To Open Three-Week Run
Bigger and better than ever,
the spectacularly successful Ice Capades will open its 24th annual local engagement April 28 at the Sports Arena.
It will be a three-week run,
the final performance scheduled for Sunday, May 17. Last year "Greatest Show on Ice" was in town only two weeks but proved such a hit that the number of performances has been extended.
The premiere will be a gala occasion, with hundreds of luminaries from the entertainment world attending the celebration which will be televised by a special three channel hookup.
This year's show has virtually all the headliners from the last edition, plus newcomers such as the dazzling Otto and Maria Jelinek, a brother-sister team that won the world's pairs title in Czechoslovakia; Hugh Forgie, who performs an amazing badminton act; glamorous Sheila MacParlane and the latest hit, Spanky The Chump, Spanky, a chimpanzee trained by Dave Pitt, spins around the ice like a pro and climaxes his routine by jumping over five barrels.
The old standbys are still around — Cathy Machado, Phil Romayne and Cathy Steele, the breathtaking adagio dancing partners; Alan Konrad and the super comics, Johnny LaBrecque and George Bussey.
Also, the "sophomores" have blossomed out as full fledged stars and are featured in a number of the spectacular production numbers. They include Brigitte, the blond doll from Vienna; Hisashi Kuchiki, the only Japanese professional skating

Mrs. Lynn Harris Hicks of Clemente, radio, motion picture, and TV chairman of North District will interview Russell Parks, superintendent of Fullerton Elementary schools who also serves on the California State Commission.

Life Membership Dinner and Hootenanny will be held on Tuesday evening April 28, 7 p.m. at the Elks Club in Anaheim. Hosts will be Anaheim Elementary and Anaheim Secondary PTA Councils.
There will be a budget and finance workshop for Anaheim Secondary Council on Monday morning April 13, 9:30 a.m. at the home of Mrs. George Karcher, 10301 Pardido Street, Anaheim, for all secondary budget and finance chairmen.
Guest speaker will be Phyllis Harrison, of the Woman’s Division of the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce who will discuss the survey the Education Committee has made and is continuing to make in our educational system and how effectively it is filling the need of business and industry.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, April 30, at 9:30 a.m. at the Anaheim Union High School District office.
