Top Group
Sheriff James A. Musick announced today, that seven of his nepunies recently graduated in the 25th class of the Orange County Peace Officers' Academy.
The class was held at the Orange County Fairgrounds under the auspices of Orange Coast College and the Orange County Peace Officers' Association. Graduation ceremonies were held at the Theo Lacy Security Facility, 501 S. Manchester, Orange.
Among the graduating deputies were John L. Harris of Anaheim, 25 years old.
Deputy Harris ranked among the eight highest officers scholastically. A total of 64 officers comprised the class roster.

The Award is presented annually to the member of the Junior Chamber deemed to have made the outstanding contribution to the community, and is its highest membership award.

Park - Recreation Notes
The popular hatmaking class for women, sponsored by the Anaheim Park and Recreation Department, will be renewed in an eight-week course beginning Tuesday, April 7, at Spencer House.
The class is taught by Mrs. Mathiel Miller from 1 to 3 p.m. each week. A maximum of 16 are accepted in each class. Advance registration fee is $10 for Anaheim residents.
The 1964 Swim Clinic program will begin March 23 with five courses open to the public, according to recreation supervisor Dave Sommers, Anaheim Park and Recreation Department.
All classes are tentatively scheduled for Pearson Park pool, he said, but may meet at one of the high school pools. Final location will be announced later, he said.
Classes will include Junior Life Saving, Senior Life Saving, Water Safety Aide, Water Safety Instructor, and Swimming for the Handicapped.
Both life saving courses will meet from 8 to 11 a.m. daily. Junior requirements are: 12 years old and having passed the Red Cross swimmers test. Seniors must be 16-years old and have passed the Red Cross swimmers test. Fees are $3.25 and $4 respectively, including Red Cross course materials and pool expenses.
Water Safety Aide classes require students be 12-years old and have passed the Red Cross swimmers test. They will meet from noon to 3 p.m. daily. Fees must have a Water Safety Instructor card. Fees are $2.50 for pool expense only.
Six new courses in junior and adult education and hobbies will open this month, according to Diana Dunn, recreation supervisor, Anaheim Park and Recreation Department.
Five sections of Tiny Tots programs have been scheduled for children eligible to enter kindergarten next September. A minimum of 20 is needed for each class. Mothers are required to help at two of the 16 two-hour meetings and to attend an orientation session at the La Palma Recreation Building at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 12.
Sections will meet 1 to 3 p.m. Monday and Wednesday at Spencer House; 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday and Friday or Tuesday and Thursday, and 1 to 3 p.m. Monday and Friday or Tuesday and Thursday at La Palma Community Building.
Two separate art classes will be offered by Mrs. Suzanne Ferguson beginning March 19 at Spencer House. From 1 to 3:30 p.m. she will continue the Adult Oil Painting course of last semester. A $10 registration fee and sign-up prior to the first class is required for the eight week class.
A new Adult Drawing Class will begin March 20, 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the La Palma Recreation Building. The class is limited to fifteen students. Sign-up is required prior to the first 7:30 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning March 17. Classes are limited to 12. The fee for the eight-week course is $5, with advance registration at the Park and Recreation office.
Four sections of sewing classes will meet under Mrs. Yvette Smith at Spencer house beginning the week of March 16. Sewing I will be offered 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays. Sewing II will be given 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, and Sewing III to 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesdays. All sections require advance registration and a $5 fee for the eight-week course.

Registrations are still open for the Baby Ballet classes offered by the Fullerton Recreation Department at Hill crest Recreation Center on Fridays.

The jet transport was turned over to United Air Lines, which on May 29, 1959, also accepted the first DC-8. These 200 DC-8 passenger Jetliners and DC-8F Jet Traders, representing $1,191,535,000, were delivered to a total of 25 airlines.
