Capistrano Lions Announces Fiesta Ken Holmes, secretary of the Capistrano Lions Club, announced today that over 200 entry blanks have been distributed for the Lions Club Horse Show which will be held in San Juan Capistrano on Sunday, March 22nd. Horses and riders from all over the West are expected to participate in the all-day event, which is part of La Fiesta de Las Golondrinas, the traditional weekend of festivities celebrating the yearly return of the swallows to Mission San Juan Capistrano. Special events scheduled include western, English, and bareback riding competitions, hurdle and pole races, children's events, and many other classes, totalling twenty in all. The horse ring will be set up on San Juan Creek Road, which is just north of the Valle Road exit from the San Diego Freeway. The only charge will be fifty cents for parking, and food and refreshments will be sold. Holmes encouraged visitors to attend the horse show along with the other events of the weekend, which include the famous parade at 2 p.m., on Saturday, March 21st, and, especially for horsemen, overnight camping and a trail ride through the San Juan Hills.
