"Destination Dining" was the theme for the monthly general meeting of the Junior Ebell Club of Anaheim and their guests. Mrs. Fern Casier, manager of the china and glassware department of the local J. W. Invited guests include past presidents and advisors; Mrs. Jack Donaldson, Orange District President; Mrs. Lyle Schermitzler, Orange District coordinator; and all Ebell board members and trustees. Our Savers Could Fill a City
California Federal's 412,000 savers could fill Newark, New Jersey, and have 7,000 people left over. And what do we do with the hundreds of millions in savings brought to us each year by these multitudes of thrifty people? We disburse them as first mortgage loans to home builders and buyers. (The $335 million we loaned in 1963 could have built 16,750 homes worth $20,000 each!) That helped create jobs, wages and tax money for public works and services, too. And our savers were repaid for the use of their money with $37 million in dividends last year. In theory that could have bought 12,333 autos worth $3,000 each or 74,000 color TV sets. In actuality it was probably spent on a little bit of everything it takes to keep prosperity rolling. So now you know why it's nice to have a giant like California Federal around. Our billion-dollar business benefits almost everyone.

Shoe Design Winner Named
A Westminster High School girl, with a flair for fashion illustration, has been judged first grand prize winner in the annual Sbicca Shoe Design contest.
The winner, whose original shoe design was selected from several hundred entries, is Billie Mae Romeyn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Silliam C. Romeyn, 10422 Amies Road, Anaheim. This is a second year as contest winner for Billie Mae. In 1962, she held the title of third grand prize winner in the Sbicca Contest.
The Sbicca Shoe Design Contest, sponsored by The Broadway Department Stores, was open to all Southland high school girls. Judging was marked by originality, ingenuity, and neatness of shoe design sketches. The grand prize consists of a shoe wardrobe plus a complete outfit presented to the winner by Mr. Sbicca.
Billie’s design, in which she completed part of a shoe sketch, will be manufactured by Sbicca, named after Billie, and stocked in the Broadway Stores.
Judges for the event described her idea as “ingenious.”
