Basic Golf Tips
The most important feature in "Basic Golf Tips" is to get the reader in a proper frame of mind in the early stages of the instruction. As a consequence, in order to get the most out of it, it is absolutely imperative that we thoroughly appreciate the "Power of Positive Thinking" Philosophy. This is by far the most important step in the art of "learning to learn."
Once this has been accomplished the instructor and the pupil are in full accord with "Communication" and are, therefore, in position to proceed with the instruction in the full knowledge and understanding of the steps that lie ahead. This method of "Communication" between instructor and pupil is not only imperative, it is mandatory for the sake of complete success.
To begin with, please bear in terested in what you shouldn't do, but is most certainly concerned by what you "must do."

California's wardens and reserve wardens made 13,164 arrests in 1963 for infractions of fish and game laws, the Department of Fish and Game announced this week.
Out of this number of cases, only 149 citations were issued which did not result in convictions, the DFG said. This means the conviction rate among those arrested was above 98 percent, one of the highest conviction rates of any law enforcement time to arrest them and cute them."
Shannon said he was ply by the Department's percentage of 28 percent cause "it indicates our will force the fish and game well and consistently make kind of arrests that really up in court. I think it is a to perfection as we can likely get."
The Director pointed on fish and hame laws are no

This method of "Communication" between instructor and pupil is not only imperative, it is mandatory for the sake of complete success.
To begin with, please bear in mind that your "mind is the master" and that the body is nothing more or less than an instrument through which the mind expresses itself. This is frequently referred to as "mind and muscle-coordination." As a consequence, the very first pertinent conception on the part of both parties is to create indelible impression in the "mind's eye" of what the pupil "must do." This clear-cut picture is subsequently transposed from the mind to the body.
At this juncture the pupil is completely free of any and all negative thoughts, and in turn is motivated by the "Power of Positive thinking," as it should be.
The aforementioned modus operandi must be repeated over and over with indefeatable procedure under the guidance of a competent instructor until the pupil develops to some degree a sense of "muscle memory." This routine we continue to repeat until the movements are completely and smoothly coordinated and completely uninhibited.
Always keep in mind that a competent instructor is not in

B3 Teams Qualify For All
Less than two weeks remain until the start of the 1964 CIF basketball playoffs and coaches are pulling out all the stops in a determined bid for first or second-place standings and invitations into post-season competition.
Playoffs in the A Division will begin on Feb. 21 with about half the field swinging into action. Two teams in the AAA Division will get a jump on the rest of the pack with an elimination game on the same night. Playoff in the AA Division and the remainder of the AAA bracket will start on Feb. 25.
CIF commissioner of athletics Kenneth Fagans announced this week that there are 32 openings in the AAA bracket, but said there will be 33 teams qualifying, forcing an elimination game.
"With first and second-place teams in each of 16 leagues plus Antelope Valley if it wins the Golden League, it has become necessary to pair two teams in an elimination on Feb. 21," said the commissioner.
"Closing dates of league schedules dictated the two leagues that would meet in the elimination game and only the Suburban and Coast Leagues finish their schedules before the 21st Second-place finishers will meet in the elimination.
Pairings will be announced in all divisions at the earliest possible moment," said the commissioner. "And that will be as soon as a majority of the leagues have been decided."
The play-offs will be concluded at the Long Beach Arena on March 6 and 7. Semi-finals in the AAA Division will be played on Friday night, March 6; the A championship game and AAA consolation game on Saturday afternoon; and the "AA" and "AAA" finals on Saturday night.
In important games last week end, defending AAA champion Compton gave fair warning that it will be a club playoff time. The Tarbabes, who got off to a slow start losing three of their first six games, have come along steadily and now appear ready to make their move.
Last Friday, Dominguez, one game behind Compton in the Coast League race, jumped off to a 30-23 halftime lead over the 'Babes, increased it to 44-33 after three periods and appeared a shoo-in to tie for the league lead.
With just three minutes to play it was 49-40, Dominguez. Then the roof caved in. Compton's full court press, combined with some shoddy ball handling by the Dons, caused Dominguez to lose the steady "game control" it had shown.
Compton tied the count at 52 all with 13 seconds to play;
Dominguez returned with break only to have and control error give her a final shot. Roman L. came Compton's "mah hour," hitting a fall-award with two seconds giving the 'Babes a win and a two-game lead. Coast League standing.
St. Anthony upset Pius 50, knocking Pius a game half off the Saints' leading pace. Tony Terry Bowers each scored 19 Anthony, while Jim La 23 for Pius.
All other AAA league leaders score wins: Or a two-game margin of den Grove in the League as the Panthers their 11th straight on La Habra has a three-over Magnolia with ju

continue to arrest them and prosecute them."
Shannon said he was pleased by the Department's conviction percentage of 28 percent because "it indicates our wardens know what they are doing, enforce the fish and game laws well and consistently make the kind of arrests that really stand up in court. I think it is as close to perfection as we can humanly get."
The Director pointed out that fish and hame laws are not made served 4,909 days in jail and received suspended sentences of 9,235 days in jail.

For AAA Playoffs
Dominguez returned with a fast break only to have another ball control error give the Tarbabes a final shot. Roman Pruitt became Compton's "man of the hour," hitting a fall-away jumper with two seconds to play, giving the 'Babes a 54-52 win and a two-game lead in the Coast League standings.
St. Anthony upset Pius X 52-50, knocking Pius a game and a half off the Saints' league-leading pace. Tony Terry and Kent Bowers each scored 13 for St. Anthony, while Jim La Cour had 23 for Pius.
All other AAA leagues saw the leaders score wins: Orange has a two-game margin over Garden Grove in the Freeway League as the Panthers won their 11th straight on Saturday, La Habra has a three-game lead over Magnolia with just four to play in the Crestview League and Edgewood has a two-game advantage over the rest of the pack in the Sierra League.
Pomona won its 10th straight Montview League contest over Baldwin Park, 32-21 while Long Beach Poly won 81-66 from Millikan. Poly is now 24-1 and has won 20 in a row.
While top-rated South Pasadena (17-3) was idle among the AA Division powers, Atascadero ran its winning streak to 19 straight wins on the season without a loss. The Greyhounds won a pair of San Luis Obispo League decisions, including a 78-52 win over San Luis to set the stage for this week's meeting with Righetti of Santa Maria. Both Atascadero and Righetti are undefeated in eight league games.
