2—The Anaheim Gazette Thursday, January 9, 1964 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA CARDINAL'S MASS St. Boniface Dedication Church and civic leaders from all over Southern California will attend a dedication service to be held at the St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church, Sunday. His Eminence Francis O. Cardinal McIntyre will hold a solemn mass at the dedication service at 10:45 a.m. His Eminence will be assisted by St. Boniface Parish's Rev. John C. Quattannens. The impressive church structure was begun in December, 1961, and the first mass was observed in July, 1963. Total capacity is 1280. On the facade is a likeness of St. Boniface. The modern construction shows the progress of the oldest established Roman Catholic church in Anaheim. The previous church on the corner of Harbor and Center Streets will be demolished to furnish playground for the expanding St. Boniface School. The school now enrolls over 800 children under the direction of Sister Mary David, O.P. Loudspeakers and chairs outside the church will be provided for the anticipated overflow crowd. PERSONAL MENTION JAMES W. DWYER of 1217 Malboro Ave., has joined the Los Angeles Quarter Century Club of Lever Brothers Company. In recognition of his 25 years of service with the company, Dwyer was presented with a diamond-studded club pin and a $100 U.S. Savings Bond. The club now has an active membership of 58. It also includes employees from Lever's sales district in California, Arizona and Colorado. Six Anaheim students at Orange State College have been nominated for national recognition in the "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges." Selections were made by a student committee and were based on scholarship, citizenship, leadership, campus activities and general service and contribution to the college. Students eligible for nominations must be classified as upper-division or graduate at OSC and meet the qualifications of the College. The students honored were JACK R. CLEMENT, Social senior; LLOYD L. FREEBER, psychology, junior; VICTORY HAUSMANINGER, business major; senior; BARBARA REES, English, senior; A DONALD A. YONTS JR., history major, senior. A straight-A average earns a place on the Dean's List of the University of Southern California's College of Letters, Arts and Sciences for SUSAN WINER, 132 Guinida Lane, history major. Forty-five students were honored. Appointment of Mayna Kambak, 2046 Minerva St., assistant manager of the Fullerton office of United California Bank, has been announced. Frank L. King, chairman of board. Kambak was educated South Dakota. He entered banking business with the Fifth National Bank of Oberdine in 1957 where he remained until 1962 when he left to come California. He joined UniCalifornia Bank in 1963 in California division, Los Angeles Headquarters, where he... Robert L. Wetzler, commercial developer, was elected to the presidency of the Anaheim YMCA at the December meeting of the Board of Directors (Dec. 16) at the YMCA headquarters. Wetzler will be formally installed at the 41st Anaheim YMCA annual meeting at the Disneyland Hotel in February and succeeds Richard W. Gay, Anaheim banker, who completes three one-year terms as president. He served in sales promotion in Illinois and during World War II with the U.S. Army combat engineers. He is active in the membership of the First Presbyterian Church of Anaheim and serves on the Orange County Fair Board. He resides at 118 Eisner Street with his family including his wife Ethel, daughters Roberta and Mary and son Tom. He is currently serving as Anaheim YMCA treasurer. Others elected to the 1964-5 term are Clifford Haskell market executive; vice president of Finance; James Abrecht, school principal, vice president of Program; Mrs. Al Casebeer, housewife, Recording Secretary; and Dr. William Kellogg, dentist, treasurer. The YMCA board took additional steps toward the construction of a central YMCA facility at the meeting. The organization provides varied youth and adult programs in the Anaheim, Magnolia, Cypress, Stanton, Savanna and Dairyland areas and is an Anaheim United Fund agency. Hunt of Garden Grove has been appointed general manager of the Orange public relations firm of Robert A. Geier & Associates, according to Bob Geier, head of the firm. Hunt has been working with the firm on an associate basis for almost a year, specializing in industrial relations and business and political campaigns. "I expect to devote practically full time to campaign duties Bank Names Berry to Audit Post Thomas C. Berry of Anaheim has been promoted to assistant chief inspector in Bank or America's audit and inspection department at Los Angeles Headquarters. His promotion was announced by William J. Breen, vice-president in charge of personnel relations for the bank in Southern California. In his new post Berry will be responsible for auditing the records of the bank's administrative departments in Southern California. U.S. Pact Awarded to Aeronutronic The U.S. Air Force awarded a contract for approximately $1-million to Aeronutronic Division of Philco Corporation, to improve techniques penetrate enemy ICBM defense systems. Announcement of the contract was made by John B. Lawson general manager of Aeronutronic and a vice president of Philco Corporation, a Ford Motor Company subsidiary. Lawson said that the contract calls for Aeronutronic to conduct a study and flight test... Real Estate Hike Seen For County Real estate sales in Orange County during 1964 are expected to show a substantial increase over 1963, according to a poll of selected brokers and builder - developers conducted by Santa Ana Savings and Loan Association. The Orange County opinion sampling, part of a statewide poll conducted by the seven California savings and loan associations affiliated with Great Western Financial Corporation, showed that 85.6 per cent of the respondents believe their sales during the next 12 months will equal or exceed 1963. Stewart McPherson, president of the association, said 54.3 per cent expect an increase of 10 per cent or more, while 25.7 per cent anticipate gains of 20 per cent or better. He has supplemented his professional experience with courses from the American Institute of Banking, educational wing of the American Bankers Association. Hagan is the new Executive Director of the Anaheim Chapter of the American Red Cross. He replaced Miss Gwen O'Neal who served in this capacity the past year. Hagan has been affiliated with the American Red Cross since March, 1952. In the Korean War he served with the American Red Cross as a field director in the service at military installations, and in 1856 was transferred to the civilian program. He has served as Red Cross field representative in eastern Washington and northern Idaho and also in the same capacity for the state of Oregon. He comes to Anaheim from the Western Area Office in San Francisco where he has been a member of the Disaster Services Staff for the nine western states. In 1961 he served as administrative director of the Western Area Blood Program and just recently rejoined the National Disaster Staff. He is a native Californian and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University. Dr. S. I. Hayakawa, a specialist in the study of how language and thinking influence human behavior, will appear at Orange Coast College Jan. 15. Dr. Hayakawa's lecture, to start at 8 p.m. in the OCC Auditorium, is the second in the school's 1963-64 Community Artist Series. A professor of language arts at San Francisco State College, Dr. Hayakawa has held semantics as his major concern since 1937.
