Marsh 22, whose wife, Beverly, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenda Manda, live at 2233 Alden Ave Anaheim, returned to Fort Anzio July 22 with other members of the 79th U.S. Army Band lowing a three-day concert in Guatemala City, Guatemala. During the "Operation Friendship" tour, the band present concerts in the National Palace in Guatemala City, in connection with Guatamalan Armed Forces Day celebrations. Manda, a trombone player, the band, entered the Army August 1961, completed training at Fort Ord and arrived overseas last April. LEAVING FOR EUROPE — Ephraim Kessler, owner and manager of the Anaheim Drapery and Curtain Store at 108-112 E. Lincoln Ave. in Downtown Anaheim, will leave Sept. 1 for a two-month buying and pleasure trip to New York, Israel and then to Europe. While in Rome, Kessler hopes to be able to see the Pope, whom he regards as "a good man," then to Paris and Monaco to "see Princess Grace, I hope." He will then sail home on the Queen Elizabeth, he says. Kessler's trip will take him over 15,000 miles and nine countries. He will meet his brother in New York. Meanwhile, his store will be operated by his son. (Gazette Photo by Douglas Huff) New Irvine Buildings Pass Initial Phase Planning moved forward on schedule at University of California, Irvine, with the announcement today that working drawings have been completed for six of the 18 buildings in the first working drawings are being progressed on the multi-purpose building, central plant, and residence halls. A warehouse - general shop unit will be started next summer. These buildings and the exist- New Irvine Buildings Pass Initial Phase Planning moved forward on schedule at University of California, Irvine, with the announcement today that working drawings have been completed for six of the 18 buildings in the first increment for the new campus on the rolling hills three miles inland from Corona del Mar coastline in Orange County. Grading for roads and building sites on the central campus will start in mid-September and ground will be broken before the end of the year. Completion of the first phase of construction, designed to accommodate 2,000 students, is timed for the summer of 1965 for initial enrollment of 1,000 students in September, 1965. Enrollment is projected to a maximum of 27,500 students in little more than two decades. In about 30 days, the university will advertise for construction bids on the first units of the library, social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, engineering and cafeteria structures. NAMED NAA DIRECTOR James E. Shelton, Jr. of 3307 Teton Dr., Fullerton, has been elected as director of programs and seminars for the Orange County chapter of the National Association of Accountants. Shelton previously held the post of associate director of programs during the 1962-1963 chapter year. Shelton is controller for the Helipot and Special Products Division of Beckman Instruments, Inc. Working drawings are being progressed on the multi-purpose building, central plant, and residence halls. A warehouse - general shop unit will be started next summer. These buildings and the existing interminent office will comprise the physical plant of 19 structures on opening day. At present, Chancellor Daniel G. Aldrich, Jr., and a staff of 30 are engaged in the physical and academic planning at the interim office, San Joaquin and Paularino Roads, at the northern tip of the campus.
