High Adventure is Junior Ebell Fare
The September general meeting of the Junior Ebell Club of Anaheim, was highlighted by a program of an exciting adventure to the south seas with Dave Wynn, entitled "Bali and the South Seas".
Wynn has had a life packed full with adventure. In his insatiable search for knowledge, he was a pupil of the late Rabindranath Tagore, the great poet of India. While there, he met Gandhi. OCC Sets up Photo Class
A new course, Advanced Photojournalism, will start at Orange Coast College in September. The class will study and use photo techniques practiced in mass communications fields. Journalism instructor Phyllis J. Jackson and photography instructor Arthur G. Evans will team up to present the course to students.
Miss Jackson will teach photo-reporting, photo editing, layout, photo reproduction processes and makeup techniques. Evans will teach the use of press type cameras, magnesium flash, electronic flash, available light, press films, and high speed laboratory processing techniques.
Miss Jackson said photojournalism is applied not only in newspapers and magazines, but is used in advertising, industrial publications, public relations, technical journals and television.
She said the photojournalism course ties directly into OCC's courses in reporting, copyreading, makeup and editing. Skills gained in the course, she said, may be applied in student publications and brochures, and the student newspaper, the Barnacle.
