PR 2-1320: LA 6-5529 JE 0-3366 Newcomers Club Goes in For Variety of Activities The Laguna Beach Art Festival and Pageant of the Masters was the destination of the Gadabout and Theatre-goers sections of the Anaheim Newcomers Club last weekend. "Membership in the Newcomers Club is limited to new residents of Anaheim. Its purpose is to welcome newcomers to Anaheim and help them to make new friends with interests similar to theirs. To do this we have four divisions," explains Mrs. Floyd Peterson, Gadabout Section President. Other divisions are the bowling and Bridge groups. The Gadabouters and Theatre-goers get together whenever both their groups are interested in the same event such as the Laguna Beach outing. They usually charter a bus for such events, Mrs. Peterson explained. Future events for the Gadabout section include going by either bus or special train to the races at Del Mar on Labor Day. Recently the Theatre-goers went by bus to Hollywood to see "Cleopatra." Th Womn's Bowling section is another active branch of the newcomers. They meet every Wednesday morning at the Anaheim Bowl at 9:30 a.m. The summer league is now in action with 20 teams. The winter league will be organized in September, following an awards luncheon for the summer bowlers. There will be 24 teams. Those interested in Bridge have their own sections too. They have morning, couples, and evening bridge parties in various members homes. The morning bridge division met Tuesday at Mrs. Wellington Green's home, 1316 Atca Ave., Anaheim. The club holds a general meeting once every 3 months at various restaurants in the city. Mrs. Peterson stated that the whole purpose of the club is to get people acquainted with each other, have them in their homes, and eventually break away from the parent organization, which is the Newcomers Club. However, members may belong to the club long as they wish. Dues are per year. Officers of the club are atre-goers, Mrs. Leslie Lam, Gadabouters, Mrs. Floyd Wilson; Bowling, Mrs. Paul Kirk, Couples Evening Bridge, Mrs. Mrs. Norman Rushing; morning Bridge, Mrs. Ral Alumbaugh, Ladies Eve Bridge, Mrs. Kenneth Gann. Any interested new resident Anaheim should contact Floyd Peterson, KE 5-561-4878 further information. Newbers are always welcome. HILGENEELD MORTUARY Faithful Courteous Service 120 E.Broadway, Anaheim PHONE KE 5-4105 BELONGING TO THE HEART By CAROL BAKER The obsolete meaning for "cordiality" is anything belonging to the heart. It is regretful that so lovely a meaning should become obsolete, and it might be a good idea to submit the word to Dr. Evans — for surely "cordiality" should regain its old meaning. Belonging to the heart brings to mind many things — the most cordial of moods, the warmest of occasions; — when we have received a "cordial welcome" anywhere we know that the writer has struck a chord of warmth within us. Cordiality is especially a tradition when friendship is mingled with feasting, as it is at Kim's Family Restaurant, located at 574 South Glassell, in Orange, and 2120 West 17th Street in Santa Ana under the management of Clarence Zuckelman. Homme, president of the International Real Estate Federation, Paris. Sherwood Estates was the only using development in Southern California visited by the delores," Buccola added.
