Marty is one of the loniest boys Brothers ever met. Marty's natural father died before he was born and five years his mother remarried and he married two step-brothers. Last year, his stepfather left home and there was a divorce. Epileptic of his step - father's ca-attitude, Marty misses him. The oldest of Marty's step-brothers had had rheumatic fever requires a great deal of the father's time and care. The younger step-brother, because his age, also requires a lot of serious problem. To compound the problem, Marty's mother has had to return work and a sitter is in the house until 4:30 in the afternoon. These evenings until his two brothers are in bed, Marty's mother is not able to give him much attention. Marty is fond of baseball, but is too far from the field to get back on his own. He feels that he does not play well. He was given some tropical fish a friend and developed a hobbit but one of his step-brothers needed the pump plug and the fish dredge. Marty has not formed any friendships with any men, in fact, he really doesn't know a kind man. Marty's mother is a business woman and she does not feel that Marty has much potential in this direction, a fact of which he is aware. Needs Protection Marty literally needs the protection of a man in his life, a Big Brother who can teach him to relax and enjoy his life. He needs a man with whom he can do things alone, without having to share with his two younger brothers. Marty will probably not be a juvenile delinquent. A Big Brother, however, could make the difference in this boy's life between being a productive, happy person, or someone so damaged by events in his life that he may grow into manhood and repeat the same situation that has created his terrible, lonely existence. Marty needs a Big Brother. Big Brothers of Orange County is looking for the right man to serve as Marty's Big Brother, because here it will take so little to accomplish so much. Anaheim Woman's Letter in Print Mrs. Daisy Johnson of Anaheim had a letter she wrote to McCall's magazine published as part of a major article in the current (August) issue. Mrs. Johnson was quoted in an article by Betty Friedan entitled "Angry Letters." The article was inspired by the number of critical and commendatory comments Mrs. Friedan received about a feature she wrote for McCall's June issue. Entitled "The Fraud of Femininity," Mrs. Friedan contended that American women have once again accepted a passive role in marriage because they have been misled into believing that motherhood and wifedom exclude the right to have a career as well.
