12—The Anaheim Gazette Wednesday, May 29, 1963 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA City Drops Riverview’s Annexation Proposal Twice burned by apparent inconsistencies in annexation support, the Anaheim City Council has dropped plans for testing the vote on the Riverview Annexation plan. Discussions with property owners indicated to the council the vote could well be unfavorable. Several of the owners of large properties told the council they favored annexation for the advantages they considered would accrue to the area but that they recommended dropping the plan because they feel it would be defeated at this time. When annexation is defeated at the polls there must be a year’s wait before it is again attempted, legal authorities point out. As a result of the council decision, it is expected the Riverview area will be broken up into smaller segments and at least those represented by the large land owners will ask the city for annexation. The council is shy of annexations since the defeat of the Southwest and the Yorba Linda proposals. Both petitioned the city for annexation with adequate signers to carry the measures and then defeated the idea at the polls. Anaheim Bowlers Named Champions Anaheim’s Linbrook Bowl team has been officially declared Division One champion for the second successive year for the Woman’s International Bowling Congress’ national tournament. Linbrook’s 2841 three-game series, fired in Memphis, Tenn., stood up to the close of the tournament as the WIBC’s top score. Last year Linbrook won the crown with a record 3061 series in Phoenix, Ariz. The team is comprised of Merle Matthews of Long Beach, Robbie Frey of Torrance, Betty Phillips of South Gate, Wilma Guillory of Inglewood and Mary Hoyt of Los Angeles. The team’s games were 896-962-983, good for $1,500. FRIDAY, SATURDAY 524 N. EUCLID — ANAHEIM Mon. Thru Fri. 10 a.m. to 9:30—Sat. 10 to 6 Kresge's 524 N. EUCLID — ANAHEIM Mon.
