Roberta has the type of personality you want in a secretary. She is lively in speech and facial appearance; her eyes are wide and intelligent; she is brisk in response to questions; she has an excellent sense of humor.
Above all we would say, Roberta has the drive, the will to succeed. And if your secretary succeeds, you will too.
Roberta has only one problem. She is encased in a cast that extends from her toes to mid-waist. She has been in the cast for over two years and can expect to remain in it for as much as another

Roberta has only one problem. She is encased in a cast that extends from her toes to mid-waist. She has been in the cast for over two years and can expect to remain in it for as much as another year before she will again be able to stand upright and try and walk again.
Roberta is Roberta Hamilton Brennecke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hamilton of 1015 Onondaga in Anaheim. She was divorced from her husband about a year before an automobile accident wiped out the life of her son and spun her into a plaster cast from which she emerges only from time to time as doctors still try to piece together the shattered bones and muscles of her legs.

In addition to all of this effort
Roberta is working on the completion of her college work toward

of the competent secretary
A training program from the state office, under the local supervision of Francis N. Everett of the Santa Ana office, was developed through the Polly Priest school. The goal was to qualify Roberta for secretarial and letter service business.
Special teaching tapes were prepared covering English, spelling, letter writing, filing, etc. A teaching machine was installed for shorthand training and a tape recorder was installed.
After ten weeks of training Roberta was up to 55 words per minute in typing and taking shorthand at 60 words per minute. She is now well above these figures.
How does she type while lying in bed? This is accomplished through the use of an electric typewriter which is on a special mount that permits easy swinging into position for use. It was phone and dictate their correspondence over the phone into the machine for later transcribing.
In addition to all of this effort Roberta is working on the completion of her college work toward an Associate in Arts degree. She is emphasizing history, political science and literature in her studies.
To talk with Roberta is inspirational. She has no lack of confidence in the future — only some impatience with the time. She is overboard in her thanks to the legion of persons who have contributed to her efforts.
Big Debt To Pay
And she still needs a lot of support. The medical attention she has received has run into the thousands of dollars and both of her parents are working to assist in paying off these debts. An aunt, Mrs. Helen Harter of Fullerton, comes down each day and stays in the house to attend to household needs while the parents are off at their work.
At night Roberta's father delivers any of the experimental work she has completed.
If you would like to reach Roberta her telephone number is PR 2-3762.
SHOULD DEVELOP GOOD MUSCLE TONE
When Roberta needs to reach a little distance
e bar above her gives her shoulders a raise of
several inches and extends her reach to more
distant points around the perimeter of her bed.
Here she turns on a special recorder which may
be attached to the telephone and accept dictation
which she can later type.
