Nearly 200 Blind Children
Enjoy Own Easter Egg Hunt
One hundred and eighty-five children, ages 6 through 12 went on an unusual Easter Egg Hunt in Griffith Park, Saturday, March 30.
Each hidden egg was taped to one end of a long string. The youngsters were assisted in finding the other end of the string and then followed it to "discover" the egg.
The hunt was conducted in this manner because all of the children participating were blind.
This was the 11th Annual Easter Egg Hunt held by the non-profit Foundation for the Junior Blind whose headquarters are at 4005 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles.
After all the eggs were tracked down and found, the sightless children had the opportunity to "see" with their fingertips, a live Easter Bunny who came to visit. An outdoor barbecue and a hike through the park area were additional treats for the children.

Plan Variety Show
The annual Variety Show produced by the California School Employees Association, Chapter 82, will be presented on Saturday night, May 4, according to Robert J. Stuhl, Chapter president.
Developed with the cooperation of the music departments of the five high schools in the Fullerton Union High School District and of Fullerton Junior College, the Variety Show features C.S.E.A. members and their special talents.
Proceeds from this year's Variety Show will go to the Charles Droft Scholarship Fund which is being instituted this year by C.S.E.A. in honor of Mr. Drott who was an employee of the Districts for more than 29 years prior to his death late in 1961.
The Charles Droft Scholarship Fund will be available for the granting of scholarships to sons and daughters of members of Chapter 82 of the California School Employees Association who plan to enter a branch of the state college system in California, the University of California, or a private four year college upon graduation from high school.
Bowl Uses 100,000 Lilies for Service
To adequately decorate the Hollywood Bowl stage and reflecting pool, for the 43rd annual Easter Sunrise Service, more than 100,000 lilies will be needed, according to the general chairman of the event, Los Angeles Postmaster Otto K. Olesen.
Due to recent heavy rains which may be responsible for a scarcity of Callas, Mr. and Mrs. Hiram E. Beebe, co-chairmen of the Lily Committee, are asking the cooperation of all residents of the entire Southern California area in the collection of lily blooms for the non-denominational Easter Sunrise Service, April 14.
