Trek to Arizona For Girl Scouts
It will take three weekends of training for Girl scouts of Anaheim to be prepared for a thrill-packed visit to the Grand Canyon this summer, according to Mrs. Joan Smith, chairman of the "Expedition Arizona" for local Girl Scouts.
The trip, to last 14 days starling on June 15, will include a visit to an abandoned Indian settlement, ghost towns and a pack mule trip through the Grand Canyon, according to Mrs. Smith.
Girls in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades with at least one year senior scouting are being enrolled for the expedition. A total may go: Girls interested in the trip may contact the heim Gril Scout House.
The journey will include night camping in Kaibab National Forest.
Big Tires Lead To Speed Error
Installation of oversize tires on a car can result in faulty suspension readings, California law way Patrol Commissioner Ford M. Crittenden declares.
"A tire with a larger circumference than was standard for make and model of car willduce the indicated speed, but the actual speed, of the vehicle. The difference usually ranges from 3 to 5 miles per hour, but exaggerated cases can be as great as 10 to 12 mph.
Thus a car traveling at a designated 65 mph, the maximum limit, may actually be moving miles per hour or faster."
This commissioner said Highway Patrol officers had discovered a number of drivers for speed who were unaware they had exceeded the limit, because ensized tires had given them increased speedometer readings.
