Anaheim Children's Theater Slates Anaheim Park and Recreation Department this week announced that the Seventh Annual Children’s Dance Theatre will soon get underway. Marjorie Matsushita, recreation supervisor for the department said that the program is an opportunity for young people to participate in theatre dance work. Original choreography will be part of the class work and dancers will be accepted only by audition. Requirements for the program will include at least one year of dance; ballet or modern — tap dance not acceptable. Children must be ten years or older. First audition date for the theatre was last Saturday at Fremont Junior High School gym. First class date has been set at next Saturday, at Fremont. Class starts at 9 a.m.-noon. Fee for the session is $5.00 per person. GUEST OF HONOR — Vocalist Enie Ross, with the big adult swing band of Memo Bernabee at the popular Sunny Hills ballroom, joined the crowds in honoring Assemblyman Dick Hanna as he nears the mark in the November elections for Congress. Every Saturday night is “guest of honor” night, as dancing crowds meet city and county notables. It’s modern, carefree dancing at Sunny Hills, Valencia Mesa Dr. just off Harbor Blvd. in Fullerton. Originally scheduled for next Friday, the program has been postponed due to an appendectomy being performed on Wilson. The "Mirth and Music" program takes the seriousness out of serious music and is spiced with genial humor, refreshing comment and good music. Willson had a long string of accomplishments before his "Music Man" opened on Broadway in 1957. He starred in several radio programs, once toured as a flutist with the famed John Phillip Sousa band, played five years in the New York Philharmonic, served as general music director of the Western Division of NBC, and conducted major symphonies. He spent four years as a major in World War II, heading the music division of the Armed Forces Radio Service. Later he developed radio commercials, succeeded as a radio comedian, and composed many popular songs. His wife is concert singer Rini Zarova. The third lecture will bring Louis Untermeyer, critic, poet and editor, to SAC on Friday, Feb. 15. The prolific writer was appointed consultant in English in 1961 and recently published his book, "Makers of the Modern World," in which he recounts the lives of writers, artists, scientists, statesmen, philosophers and other cultural leaders. Social Dance Classes Friday was the first date for the Fall Social Dance class offered by the Fullerton Recreation Department. Class is held weekly at the city's Amerige Senior Citizens Center, 340 W. Commonwealth Ave., from 8:9:30 p.m. with instructor Al Arroues stressing the fundamentals of ballroom dancing.
