Trailer Show
Southern California's trailer industry in the past two decades has grown from a backyard do-it-yourself operation to a giant Detroit assembly-line-type-business which this year will probably gross $300,000,000 in sales.
Some 41,000,000 Americans live in mobile homes and their ranks are swelling year by year, according to U.S. Department of Commerce figures. California has the highest concentration of mobile homes in the nation.
The focal point of the industry starting Thursday, Oct. 11 will be Los Angeles' Great Western Exhibit Center, where the 10th Annual Mobile Home & Travel Trailer Show will prevail for four-days.

With an optimistic view to the future, Jack Wells, president of the TCA, sponsors of the trailer extravaganza, noted: "In retail U.S. gross sales of mobile homes and travel trailers last year amounted to $650,000,000. This year (1902) the first quarter sales were up about 20 per cent from the same period in 1961"
Based on current prospects, Wells pointed out that the 1962 national volume might easily hit the 800 million mark. He said that travel trailer manufacturers were having one of their best years.
