FIRST IN ORANGE COUNTY — A dramatic addition to modern hospital techniques, the new portable bathtub is now in use at Martin Luther Hospital, Anaheim. The tub serves as a wheel stretcher when the sides are folded down; when the patient is on the stretcher, taken directly from his bed, the sides are raised and the tub is filled. The water then is drained, and the tub again becomes a stretcher. The stretcher was donated to Martin Luther Hospital through the Paul Nolting Memorial Fund. In presenting the gift, Mrs. Nolting demonstrates its use to Director of Nursing Mrs. Do-lores Suter. Investments Insured Against Loss? An Editor (Continue) Richard M. Nixon as a spaigner. Minckler, first vice president. Reflecting the State's rapid growth. Nixon as a skillful rough and rugged camgner. From this point forward the Democrats will campaign on a "scared" basis. Democrats feel they simply cannot afford to lose California this fall. The state shortly will become the nation's largest from a population standpoint. There eight new congressional seats up for grabs in Calinia. President Kennedy lost California to Nixon in 1960 and he is resolved to defeat whoever runs as the P presidential nominee in 1964. Look for the Democrats to spend millions in Calinia and wheel into the attack every big gun they assess including, among others, President Kennedy, brother, Attorney General Robert Kennedy, LaSecretary Goldberg, Postmaster General Day of California, former President Truman and Secretary Health, Education and Welfare Ribicoff. Special appeals will be directed to so-called rator religious groups. Many unions, especially the longshoremen, auto kers, teamsters and steel workers, will stage a rock-down and drag-out" campaign to defeat Nixand reelect Democrats. The top Republican nominees are headed by ton for governor, incumbent Sen. Thomas H. Kuchor senate, Mayor George Christopher as lieutenant ernor and Superior Court Judge Thomas CoakleMariposa County (in central and Northern Calibia) as attorney general. All these men are in their 40s or early 50s. They vigorous campaigners. They represent all parts the state geographically. Nixon has homes in Whittier and Los Angeles. Kuchel has lived all his life in Orange County in "Workshop '62," an experimental theater presentation of one-act plays and student director interpretations, will be presented by Fullerton Junior College dramatists June 7, 8 and 9, in the High School Little Theater. All performances will begin at 8:15 p.m. Tickets for the workshop are on sale in the Deans' Office, Student Center. The one-acts to be produced include: "Riders to the Sea," by John Millington Snyge; "Money's Kid Don't Cry," Tennessee Williams; "Fumed Oak," Noel Coward; "Helena's Husband," Philip Moeller; "A Sunny Morning," Serafin and Joaquin Alvarez Quintero; and "Table Number Seven," Terrence Rattigan. Kerr Comedy Coming Here The National Company of Jean Kerrs comedy hit. "Mary, Mary." comes to the Biltmore Theatre, Los Angeles, on Wednesday evening, June 13, under the auspices of the Greek Theatre Association. It will play through Saturday, July 14. Teresa Wright, Scott McKay and Tom Helmore are starred. Hiram Sherman is featured, and the cast of five is completed by Geil Gladstone. The top Republican nominees are headed by Nixon for governor, incumbent Sen. Thomas H. Kuchler senate, Mayor George Christopher as lieutenant Gerron and Superior Court Judge Thomas CoakleMariposa County (in central and Northern Calinia) as attorney general. All these men are in their 40s or early 50s. They are vigorous campaigners. They represent all parts of the state geographically. Nixon has homes in Whittier and Los Angeles. Kuchel has lived all his life in Orange County in Sacramento, except when he has been serving in public office in Sacramento and Washington. He has been United States senator since 1952 and is now the Senator from California and his party's whip the upper house. In the last senatorial election, Kuchel defeated awards by some 400,000 votes. Kuchel, undoubtedly, is one of the most popular and electable California Republicans, something many Reicans fail to appreciate fully. Nixon and Kuchel have proven records as voteers. Neither has ever been defeated in California for election. Their careers will cause Democrats in all parts of the nation to become interested in the outside next November. The GOP hopes that California will lead a revival republican strength and following throughout the state. This election, along with the ones in New York, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Pennsylaia, Texas and Georgia, will have vital implications for the 1964 Presidential race. The Democrats in California have a registration roughly 3-2 in their favor. For Nixon to win, he must carry at least 90 per cent of the GOP voters and approximately 20 per cent of the Democrats and indeents. It's a man-sized job. It's far too early to be any rational predictions as to the final outcome — except that it will be a dilly of a race all the time. Until final returns are in, it will be difficult, too, assess the true strength of the extreme conservavation of the GOP or how many true conservations there are in Democratic ranks. Nixon's youthOP opponent, State Assemblyman Joe Shell, ran and strong race as an avowed conservative. Much of his support was vocal and when the votes were tallied, he didn't even push Nixon. He simply was not well enough known, and he led the campaign late. But his exposure and exence should aid him in future political efforts when he undoubtedly will make. He has his eyes on Democratic senate seat held by Claire Engle, again other possibilities. So, it's open season on big-time politics in Calilia from this date until next November. Astrodata Firm Hits $1,500,000 Earnings Astrodata, Inc., Anaheim electronics firm, has announced that May bookings reached a record $1,500,000. Astrodata President Wallace E. Rianda predicted that earnings for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1962, would exceed earlier estimates. He stated that the growing volume of business had necessitated an expansion of plant facilities; construction of an additional 30,000 square feet was begun in May.
