WOW! . . . GOLD: — For an instant three Annaheim Cub Scouts from pack No. 109 almost believed they'd struck gold with the help of Knott's Berry Farm prospector. Then, the "flash" of a camera and (l to r) Robert and Richard Bates with friend Scott Overmayer blinked their eyes sheepish—grinning, they realized it was only the rehearsal for the 4-act 90 minute historical epic to be presented more than 2,400 Northern Orange County Cil Scouts in eight area communities. "American Heritage Pageant" is slated for June 1 and 2 in the LaPalma Stadium, Anah Personalized "to your door" ticket deliver available at PR 4-3713.

Miro Mihovilovic, world renowned authority on recreation, stopped over in Anaheim last week on his tour of the nation and said, "Anaheim ranks with the best of any city in America and Europe in recreation opportunities and potential resources." Speaking with recreation directors of Anaheim and Los Angeles, the Yugoslav professor praised the city's planning and complimented on the native and creativeness of its new parks, the quality of the landscaping and especially the youngsters' playgrounds.

Freeway Construction Working 12 Projects
Development of the state freeway and highway system in Orange county is moving ahead at projects now under construction at a total cost of $14,947,000. Robert Mitchell, chairman of the Southern California committee for National Highway Week, reported yesterday.
Mitchell said that 80 per cent of the work in progress is scheduled for completion before the end of 1962.
Another $24,354,000 of additional construction contracts covering nine more projects in the county will be awarded by the State Division of Highways during the next few months, he said.
Construction underway in Orange county represents an integral part of the California Freeway-Expressway System which is designed to connect all cities in the state with a population of 5,-000 or more.
When completed in 1980 it will serve every major industrial, agricultural and recreation region and carry 50 per cent of the total intra-state motor vehicle travel.
Completion of the total state system will require the expendi-ture of $10.5 billion for construc-tion over the 20-year period from 1980 to 1980. When finished, it will represent 12,500 miles of interconnecting super-highways.
"One of the principal purposes of Highway Week, May 20-26, is to acquaint the public with the magnitude of the state's carefully planned high-speed, safe and economical motor vehicle transportation system," Mitchell said.
"Every motorist who pays the construction costs through gasoline taxes should know that the system is being developed not only to meet existing needs but the requirements of the future as well."

Savanna High Holds Dedication
Spring Choral Show
The music department of Savanna High School presented its Spring Choral Concert in Fremont Junior High Auditorium with music presented in three areas: concert, festival, and show music. The choral group included the A Cappella Crew the Rebel Tones (Advanced Girls Glee), and many small groups and solos.
Of special interest was the appearance of Marybeth Reynolds, who performed the first movement of the Schumann Piano Concerto, accompanied by Mr. Peterkin on a second piano.
A personal invitation to all citizens of Orange County and the immediate vicinity to attend the Orange County State College Campus Dedication has been extended by College President William B. Langsdorf.
During the first five days after their landings on Iwo Jima, Marine Corps communication crews laid more than 700 miles of telephone wire, although operating under heavy artillery fire and harrassed by snipers.
