Damas de Caridad Group Elects Marcelina Arroues as President
Marcelina Arroues of Fullerton, assisted by a board of nine officers and chairmen, will guide the work of Damas de Caridad, Orange County's newest social-philanthropic group during the coming year.
Members of the "Ladies of Charity" elected Miss Arroues president at a meeting of the group recently in the staff room of St. Jude Hospital.
Miss Arroues, well known in Orange County and Fullerton for her philanthropic and cultural efforts, was the instigator of the women's group which staged a memorable and highly successful "Bal Masque Fantasy" at the Disneyland Embassy Room last February. She served as ball chairman of the group during the past year.
Under her guidance women from Fullerton, Anaheim, Santa Ana, La Habra, Brea, Placentia, Yorba Linda and Newport Beach organized the black tie benefit dinner dance and parade of flower masquered mannequins which netted $10,000 for the St. Jude Hospital building expansion fund.
