"We stepped out into the cold black world with a couple of shoestrings, a few ideas and a lot of confidence," mused Hatfield. "And ever since, the Good Luck been pushing us into the spots at the right time," ad Miles. This is the client record Hatfield Miles and Associates their first three weeks of business. Dean Ivan C. Malm, athletic coordinator for FJC, said that most other Thanksgiving Day games in the nation have been discontinued and that both coaching staff concerned agree that the game should be dropped. Reasons for the discontinuance are these: (1) The Eastern Conference expansion to 10 teams makes the extra game difficult to schedule; (2) Both teams have won the same number of Turkey Bowl games to date, making it an ideal time to end the series; (3) Bowl selections are usually made before Thanksgiving, and there is a good deal of risk in making or accepting a bowl bid before the close of the season; (4) Thursday game always gives a team too little time from game of the week before to prepare for the game; and (5) Santa Ana and FJC would be the only two junior colleges in the state with incomplete seasons by November 17. Under the new arrangement Fullerton's game schedule for next season will be as follows: Sept. 22, Fullerton at Grossmont; Sept. 28, Mt. San Antonio at Fullerton; Oct. 6, Fullerton at Chaffey; Oct. 12, Southwestern at Fullerton; Oct. 18, Fullerton at Orange Cost; Oct. 27, San Bernardino at Fullerton; Nov. 2, Fullerton at Riverside: Nov. 9, Fullerton at Citrus; Nov. 17, Santa at Fullerton.
