SCREENING THE FILMS "Flower Drum Song," that lighthearted, joyful musical about San Francisco's Chinatown, has finally left Hollywood and spread itself around various Orange County theaters and drive-ins. Starring the lovely Nancy Kean, star of "World of Susie Wong," James Shigeta and pixie-ish Miyoshi Umeki, the colorful fim has five Academy Award nominations to its credit. Woyen around the complications created by the arrival of a Chinese mail order bride, played by Miyoshi Umeki, the musical is a panorama of beautiful sets and song and dance sequences set to the unsurpassed music of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Pert Miss Umeki stirs up trouble when she arrives from China to marry a sophisticated nightclub owner to whom she has been promised since childhood. Already committed to his star performer, Nancy Kwan; he maneuvers the young immigrant into the home of friends who welcome her as a prospective bride for their own son, played by James Shigeta. But Shigeta has his eye on the pretty Miss Kwan, and there the complications begin to multiply. The comedy is good, the music lovely, the sets ingenious, and all those Oriental girls, delicately beautiful. Pepper Mill Sets Ordered for Fair Verity Southall Ltd. of Laguna Beach has been commissioned by the Space Needle Restaurant of Century 21, Seattle World's Fair, to manufacture several thousand pepper mill sets which are exact replicas of the Space Needle with its celestial observation deck and revolving restaurant, to be used on each table of the restaurant at the top of the needle. The pepper mill sets are made with walnut or ebony bases and pewter tops, and they come in two sizes, 7 inches and 14 inches tall. These pepper mill symbols of the fair, besides being used in the dining room of the Space Needle Restaurant itself, will also be sold at both ends of the monorail for people who want an imaginative and useful souvenir of Century 21.
