Orange County State To Be in Regional Basketball Playoffs
Orange County State College, in its second season of intercollegiate basketball, has been invited to represent the independent teams of District Three in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics regional playoffs.
The Titans will meet the University of Redlands in a best two-out-of-three game playoff for the right to represent this District in the national tournament in Kansas City. Miss. on Mar 12-17.
The announcement of the invitation and its acceptance came this morning from the office of Ernest A. Becker, dean of students, and director of athletics.
Orange County State and Redlands will play the first game of the playoff on Friday, Mar. 2, at Fulkerton Junior College.
The second game will be played the following night, Mar. 3, on a court to be chosen by the University of Redlands, presumably the gymnasium on their campus.
A third and deciding game, if necessary, will be played at a court of Redlands' choosing. It was disclosed by George Sage, chairman of the District Three selection committee.
Cal Western University of San Diego was also in contention for the invitation but Orange State, on the strength of two wins over the Westerners, was given the bid.
Proceeds from the playoffs will be used to send the winning team to Kansas City for the national tournament.
