Holds Lun
Members of the Newcomers' Club enjoyed a delightful lunch in the Gladiator Room of the Anaheim Bowl on Tuesday. The tables were decorated in keeping with the holiday season and set the theme for the program.
City Hostess Margaret Peterson, introduced another Margaret Peterson, designer and florist fashion creator for Aleene's of Temple City who presented the program "Holiday Hints." She demonstrated the art of creating beautiful and unique items such as wreaths door ornaments, and shrines.
Forty-eight members of the Chapter Slates Children's Party
Covenant Chapter B'nai B'rith 1015 will hold a theatre party for the children December 29 at 1 p.m. at the Garden Theater, 304 E. Center St., "1001 Arabian Nights" starring Mr. Magoo, will be shown. Information may be obtained by calling Mrs. Jay Wise, PR 2-9876.

Leslie Oppelt Is CYO Teen Queen
Leslie Ann Opelt, 16, daughter of Lt. Col. and Mrs. A. L. Oppelt of Anaheim, is reigning today as Catholic Youth Organization Teen Queen of 1961-62.
She was selected on a popularity basis from a field of 52 candidates representing clubs from four counties (Orange, Los Angeles, Kern, Ventura). Leslie Ann was presented at the annual CYO Queen Ball at the Convention Center of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles.
A member of St. Justin, Martyr Chi Rho Club, Miss Oppelt was Orange County District Queen in the area-wide contest. She was presented by James Perez, field director for the county and emcee of the program, and crowned by Mary E. Tuck, 1960-61 queen.
Miss Oppelt is a junior at Marywood High School.
Other local members vying for the title of CYO Queen were Judi Banks, Anaheim, Roberta Meyers, Fullerton; Lynda Crouch, Buena Park; Jeannette Restive, La Habra; Mary Kessler, Brea; and Jacky Norton, Santa Ana.
More than 1500 teenagers and adult advisors attended the Ball. Music was provided by Marshall Cram and his orchestra.
New Guild Formed By Junior Ebells
At the November meeting of the social service section of the Junior Ebell Club of Anaheim a guild was established to serve the Albert Sitton Home. Women from throughout the county were The guild will assist the home in ways approved and proposed by the directors of the Albert Sitton Home. Membership is open to all women who are interested in
Retired Officers To Have Party
The holiday dinner party of the Orange Coast Retired Officer Club will be held on Tuesday Dec. 5, 6:30 p.m. at The Reverend House in Tustin.
The guest speaker will be Lieu tenant Colonel Richard Smith USNC, commanding officer of Composite Reconnaissance Squadron 3, stationed at the El Toro Marine Base. Colonel Smith will present the Warner Brothers film "Challenge to Americans," in which he is the star.
Colonel Smith is a Marine herof World War II and the Korea War.
Lady Accountants Set Tax Seminar
The National Women Accountants will present their Fourth Annual Tax Seminar December 24 at the Gourmet Restaurant. The instructor for this one-day session will be Professor William T Pickel of Long Beach State College.
Professor Pickel is well qualified for this post being a certified public accountant and an attorney (member of the Texas Bar Association). He is an associate professor of accounting at Long Beach Hospital.
At the November meeting of the social service section of the Junior Ebell Club of Anaheim a guild was established to serve the Albert Sitton Home. Women from throughout the county were invited to discuss the organization of the guild.
The Albert Sitton home, located in Orange, is maintained by Orange County to care for dependent children. These are children who must be removed from their homes through no fault of their own. They are cared for at the Sitton home until they can be placed in foster homes or returned to their own homes.
Proposed by laws, which were drawn up by a committee from the Ebell Club and the Junior Ebell Club of Anaheim were accepted by the group. Mrs. Robert Webb will serve as the guild's first president. Other officers elected were Mrs. Otis Collins of Buena Park, vice-president; Mrs. P. A. Young of Costa Mesa, recording secretary; Mrs. George Hume of Westminster, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. Downing Exley of Anaheim, treasurer.
The guild will assist the home in ways approved and proposed by the directors of the Albert Sitton Home. Membership is open to all women who are interested in giving assistance to the home. There will be two classes of membership. Active members will contribute a minimum of forty hours annually and will pay dues of $5 per year. Contributing members will pay dues of $25 per year.
Meetings will be held quarterly on the 3rd Thursday of January, April, July, and October. Time and place will be announced later. Present plans call for assisting the girls with shampoos, sets and haircuts; establishment of sewing and art classes; establishment of a play group for the preschoolers; and assisting with mending and sorting laundry.
A coffee is planned for the second week in December which will include a tour of the home and further explanation of the guild and its purposes. Anyone wishing an invitation to the coffee or further information may call PR 2-0745, TA 8-1920, or KI 5-1718.

The session will cover many accounting and tax problems including partnership, incorporation of partnerships, corporate problems, tax planning and savings, recent I.R.S. ruling along with many other accounting problems which we encounter during the year.

Newcomers' Club holds Luncheon
Members of the Newcomers' enjoyed a delightful lunch at the Gladiator Room of the Sim Bowl on Tuesday. The were decorated in keeping the holiday season and set theme for the program.

Theatre-goers section of the Newcomers' Club chartered a bus and traveled to the Biltmore Theatre to attend the musical "Gypsy" starring Ethel Merman.
The next evening out for this group will be on Dec. 2 when they travel by chartered bus to the Padua Hills Theatre for dinner and the show to be presented by the Mexican Players.
Winners at the recent Couples Evening Bridge Section which met in the Courtesy Room of the Home Savings & Loan were Messrs. Butts, Slottelid, Stromquist and Dr. Bennett Marcus; in the Ladies division winners were Mmes. Rees, Schenan, Felton and Rushing. The next meeting of this group will be on Monday Dec. 4 in the hospitality room of the Glendale Savings & Loan.
The Ladies Evening Bridge Section were entertained in the home of Mrs. Leona Hildebrand with Mrs. Valerie Felton serving as co-hostess. Winners of the evening were Valerie Felton, Margaret Peterson, Jean Hawn and Barbara Lewis. The next meeting of this group will be in the home of Mrs. Joanne Butts with Mrs. Rushing serving as co-hostess.
Institute 109 Lists Activities
Plans for the annual Christmas party and other activities were discussed at a recent meeting of Our Lady of the Rosary Institute 109 presided over by Mrs. David Prichard.
The party will be held December 18 in the Odd Fellows Hall. A gift exchange will be included in the festivities.
Of importance on the agenda for December is the official visit of the grand president, Miss Alma Pucci of San Franisco, December 4. Following a dinner at the Kettle, the meeting and initiation of new members will be held at the Odd Fellows Hall. Dinner reservation chairman is Mrs. Joseph Wells, KE 5-0210.
The annual hat show was held following the meeting this month with first prize going to Mrs. Wesleu Osborn for her turkey hat, and second prize to Mrs. Charles Howe for her Christmas scene hat. Third prize went to Mrs. Anthony Lipsky and fourth prize to Mrs. Dino Sbardellati.
The blood bank chairman, Mrs. Robert Stuflick, PR 4-9668, announces that the blood quota has been exhausted for some time, and unless replenished, members and their families cannot share in the bank.
OC Women 'Bal Masq
"Bal Masque Fantasy," a first for Orange County, is in the planning stage this week. The black tie dinner dance benefit is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 16 at the new Canadians Plan New Year Party
A New York Year's Eve Get Acquainted Party will be held for the first time in Orange County for all Canadian-born residents of the county, it has been announced by Mrs. Peter Proctor of Garden Grove.
It is hoped that a Canadian club will be formed as a result of the get-together, she states. A sing-a-long will be featured to help everyone get acquainted.
Reservations are being taken now for a maximum of 225 people, so all former Canadians interested are urged to call early. Call Mrs. Proctor at JE 4-3872.

C Women Plan First Masque Fantasy'

Highlight of the evening, and the event from which the affair takes its name will be the judging and awarding of prizes to winning flower masques which will be modeled by members of the ball committee.
This committee, composed of 65 Orange County women, is headed by Miss Marcelina Arroues, chairman, and Mrs. Jack Lovell, co-chairman, of Fullerton. Members include women from county philanthropic, social, and service organizations in Santa Ana, Anaheim, Fullerton, La Habra, Brea, Placentia, and Yorba Linda.
Meeting this week in the staff room of St. Jude Hospital, committee members began compiling lists of patrons and patronesses and forming plans for the ball which is foreseen as an annual affair. Proceeds from this year's Bal Masque will be given to the St. Jude Hospital Building fund, and proceeds from succeeding events will be earmarked for special projects at the hospital.
Cooperating with the ball committee is Wayne Andrade of Anaheim who will be in charge of arranging the floral designs of the masques. Eight other county florists will design the creations which will be modeled during the evening.
Committees already at work include patrons and patronesses; Mrs. Peter Fluor; chairman; Mrs. Tom Eadington and Mrs. Samuel Gendel, co-chairmen. Committee members are Mmes. B. W. Jordan, Joseph Huarte and John Larson, Anaheim; Jack Hamilton, Placentia; Peter Weisel, La Habra; Henry Pullman, Mario Mercurio and Max Koeck, Fullerton.
