Bubble persists such as day grey, sundust gold, foam green, haze blue, champagne and topos are moving into the shirt wardrobe of the nation's well-dressed business man. The rebirth of dress shirt colors is part of a trend toward British styling in men's wear.

DUROTHY B. CLOVER.
A LOVELIER YOU
By Mary Sue Miller
EVENING ENCHANTMENT. For lovelies with a large evening in view, here are five little make-up tricks — little in the effort sense, but tremendous in the glamour department:
• To refresh your complexion, apply a moisture mask. New ones, after filming the skin for only ten minutes, lift off to uncover a glowing face.
• As night lights fade make-up colors, step up your cosmetic shades. For night-light radiance you need a warmer — pinker — foundation than for daylight, and also a richer shade of lipstick. In powder, what's wanted is the luminous, "no-color" variety. Such powder provides a translucent finish, like light diffused through gauze. Moreover, repeated applications will not muddy foundation colors.

Wright About Fashion—
Look Smart .....
Be Covered Up
by Ollie Wright
Where, oh where has that simple little cocktail dress gone?
Are we women being backed up against a wall, forced to wear sexy little numbers when all we want is a plain covered-up dressy dress?
We don't want a-little-bit-of what every-man-likes to show in all our clothes, nor do we want a "dumblooking" dress either. All we want is something smart to wear to the Bowling Club Banquet, Cousin Mary's wedding, and possibly to take along on our next trip to New York. And we don't want to look at every dress in every store before finding the right dress.
So patience, ladies, designers are finally coming across! Cocktail dresses this holiday season are sleeved, covered, and made in magnificent luxurious fabrics. Suitable for all important occasions, these dresses can carry you from wedding to formal dinner, from cocktails to theatre and dancing.
You'll be happy to know the smartest evening gowns are also more covered. They are also sleek slim, and lovely. Whether it's the Kennedy influence, or mere accident, simplicity in evening wear is definitely IN!
But this kind of simplicity doesn't mean a nothing-type dress. No at all! It is a simpliciety that needs spectacular fabrics to carry it off. Fabrics with "body" and surface interest are used. Brocade, silk gros de Londres, silk alpaca, velvet and satin are examples. If crepe is used, it's massed with sequins or beading or it's crinkled to achieve a different texture entirely.
Brocades unquestionably lead the list. A big departure from the old metallic, tinselly look, these new fabrics are young, three dimensional, and puffy-surfaced. Matelasse brocades, as they are called, are often subtly colored with blue-green, taupe, or black backgrounds. In combination with gold threads, the effect gives a Renaissance look to the fabric plus the added advantage of not being restricted only to holiday wear.
Silk matelasse also comes in solid colors. Imported from France, it's expensive in pure silk but it is the most beautiful fabric shown for late-day wear this year. Sometimes referred to as "souffle," this puffy material looks particularly elegant in black dinner suits.
Silk gros de Londres has the happy advantage of a split personality. It can be used on either side of the material. One side is satin finished and the other is finely ribbed. Gros de Londres dyes up in spectacular colors that insist on shoes dyed-to-match.
IN like crazy is the completely covered-up beaded dress. Every wiggle shows when you walk, so you have to have a divine figure to wear one.

GIANTS OF CALIFORNIA
GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE ★★ NATION'S LARGE
The Golden Gate Bridge, rising 746 feet above beautiful San Francisco Bay and built at a cost of $35 million, is America's largest single-span suspension bridge. California Federal Savings is the nation's largest federal savings association. Both are man-made giants; yet neither was created by men who deliberately set out just to build giants. The desire was to build something better, stronger, safer...eminently useful. And it took size to do the job right. California Federal offers you the complete safety of giant size: assets of over $690 million. Reserves are far above legal requirements. The wisdom and stability of management policies have been proven in 36 years of booms, wars and depressions. In addition, California Federal Savings offers you the unbeatable protection of a mighty middle name: Federal. Federal
