ANAHEIM GAZETTE SECTION B. PAGE 1 Anaheim, California, Thursday, September 28, 1961 ADVANCED MODEL of the Ranger spacecraft and the lunar capsule it will carry to the vicinity of the moon is studied by Dr. Donal B. Duncan, left, general operations manager of Space Systems Operations at Aeronutronic Division Ford Motor Company, where the capsule is being developed; and James Burke, Ranger project manager at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Local residents are working on the project. United Fund Drive Aids Local Scouts Service to the community is one of the two primary goals of the 4,500 Girl Scouts whose activities are supported by the current Anaheim-Western Communities United Fund Drive. The other big goal is learning how to take their place as responsible adults in their community. Through contributions to the United Fund, the community can return the favor to the Girl Scouts. Their numbers are growing by leaps and bounds. In a year and a half, membership has increased by more than 1,000. United Fund money is used by the Girl Scouts for administration of a comprehensive program of activities and for training leaders. Each of the 300 troops in the UF area of Anaheim, Stanton, Cypress, Dairyland, Los Alamitos and Rossmoor has an adult leader and one or more assistant leaders. Each of these women leaders contributes an average of 32 hours a week of her time to one of the three Girl Scout groups: Brownies, ages 7 to 9; Intermediate, up to 14, or Senior Scouts, 14 to 17. The biggest need for more troops is in the Brownie age group, according to Mrs. Oscar Schultz, president of Anaheim Girl Scout Council. A troop is ordinarily formed through the school, where services of an organizational management are distributed and when a mothers' committee is formed and a leader is recruited. Program Backed By Councilmen Approval has been given to the Anaheim Junior Chambers of Commerce's request that Palma Stadium be used for "Americanism and A Communist" program. According to L. A. He listed the following plans by the United States Day committee, as "work to be done" prior to that time: "All mayors will be asked to sign resolutions officially endorsing U. S. Day, as will county supervisors; Boy Scouts will see that flags are displayed in business areas, and residents are being urged to do the same; and the committee is making available window posters, flag stickers, copies of the Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence for window decoration." Workers Needed For City Drive Working committees for the 55th annual Christmas Seal Campaign of the Orange County Tuberculosis and Health Association are now being formed, according to an announcement by Kenneth M.
