Philharmonic Group Has Annual Lunch The Orange County Philharmonic Society's annual "kick-off" luncheon to spark the sale of Concert Subscription Series tickets was held at Los Coyotes Country Club, Buena Park. Included in the substantial attendance were chairmen and members of the Society's 27 women's committees, as well as many musically-minded men, who were present to lend their support to the large-scale plans for the forthcoming concert season. Seated at the head table with Clifford Hakes, Philharmonic president, were regular members of the board of directors. Miss Frieda Belinfante, musical director, and conductor of the Orange County Philharmonic Orchestra, and two newly-elected board members, J. Wray Murray and Edwin J. Steen of Balboa. Hakes welcomed the gathering. Mrs. William H. Mead, vice-president and county chairman of women's committee phone. "With the advance news of Mischa Elman, Jose Iturbi, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra appearing in our concert series this season, county-wide interest has been stimulated, even at this early date, to such an extent that checks are already being received at the Philharmonic office," she said. This means that, with an extra concert added this year, at the low cost of five concerts for $10, and limited seating capacity, Subscription Series tickets will be in great demand. Mrs. Mead presented members of the board as well as others who have contributed to the success of the Philharmonic. She thanked members of the Press for their fine cooperation, Jeanette Banoczi, owner of radio station KGGK-FM, who taped interviews before the meeting for broadcast at a later date, and Mrs. George Corey of Anaheim, luncheon chairman.
