New Anaheim Company Reveals Plant Sale
The A. O. Smith Corp. has outright its Aeronautical-Western Division to a newly organized company, Prosser Industries, Inc., according to an announcement by the two firms.
The amount of money involved in the transaction which became effective Sept. 1 was not called.
The purchase was made by group of investors headed by Ald H. Prosser, who has been general manager of the Anaquatic-Western Division since four years. He has named president of the firm. All product lines, tunnel, equipment and facilities have been transferred to new company.
Prosser Industries, Inc., will continue to manufacture and market hydraulic, pneumatic and pyrotechnic devices for the aircraft and missile industries, and is prime contractor to the U.S. Navy for a line of damage control pumps. Recent new products include the development of a complete line of lightweight, compact, submersible pumps for industrial use.
Division sales for 1959-60 were in excess of $1,000,000 and Prosser indicated a comparable level for 1960-61. The plant encompasses 40,000 sq. ft. of administrative, engineering and manufacturing space and is located in a six-acre site at 900 Ball Road, Anaheim.
Museum Expands
When Santa Ana College life science students begin their study of marine life this fall, the college Natural History Museum will have a "new look" and a greatly expanded collection of shells.
Science Chairman Henri Lirette has been expanding his museum since joining SAC in 1947, to the point where the makeshift accommodations in his one-time army barracks building were inadequate to display his exhibits. So some sturdy surplus cafeteria tables were remodelled into glass-covered display cases during the summer.
