Housing Measure Lauded by Mosk
Attorney General Stanley Mosk, Democratic national committeeman for California, this week hailed the passage of President Kennedy's housing measure by the House of Representatives.
At the same time Mosk criticized all of the Republican members of the California congressional delegation for ignoring the public interest in failing to vote for the bill. (The final vote was 235 to 178.)
"These Republicans callously disregarded the welfare of our nation in voting against this program which is meant to see that every American family has a decent home in which to live," Mosk declared.
"This bill will provide for expanded federal assistance for urban renewal, public housing, rural housing, FHA financing for middle income families, community facilities for large and small towns and assistance to urban areas in buying open space land for parks, recreation and other civic needs," he concluded.
