Forest Closes For Residents About one-fourth of the Cleveland National Forest closed to public entry effective at noon Wednesday, June 14. In making this announcement Forest Supervisor Shey R. Stevenson pointed out that this is two weeks earlier than the normal closing date and is necessary due to prolonged drought which resulted in forest fire hazards normally not experienced until mid-summer. The areas to be closed are public entry will be post with "Closed Area" signs at road and trail entrances and intervals along the boundary. Supervisor Stevenson reminds the public that entry into the hazardous closed areas is misdemeanor punishable law. Persons having official business in these areas must obtain a written permit from the nearest Ranger Station.
