Tim Ingram has been selected to represent Western High School at the 1961 session of California Boys' State at the State Fairgrounds in Sacramento June 17 through June 24. He will be among 800 other young leaders of our state who have been chosen on the basis of scholarship, student activities and leadership and other extracurricular activities. Tim was chosen by his school administrators and his sponsor the American Legion post of Los Alamitos. Each year since 1937 the American Legion has tried to combat the challenge to our free society through Boys' State. It attempts to insure the continuance of our form of government by a positive approach to helping these future citizens realize the great value and worth of our democratic process. By governing themselves the boys will learn how our system actually operated. They will elect officials of the city county and state, pass and enact laws, and enforce these self-regulating laws by duly appointed officers from the boys themselves. Lectures will be provided in the evenings and the session will come to a close at the end of the week, with boys taking over the State government in Sacramento, where elected officers, from the governor on down, will take office for a day. Tim went to Horace Mann Junior High School in Los Angeles where he was an officer in the Student Council and won the American Legion. Cahail, the Tailor Ladies and Men's Alterations 119 W.
