A New York State study showed that injuries and deaths were 60 percent lower in 400 accidents involving people using seat belts than in 400 similar accidents where seat belts were not used. And the U.S. Forest Service says that seat belts have saved at least 100 of its employees from death or serious injury.

City Receives License Fees
The City of Anaheim has received $27,390 as its six-month share of the annual license fees and payments in compromise paid by the beer taverns and package store owners to the State Board of Equalization.
These comparatively large sums of money, returned by the department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, are used for the many branches of service offered by our local government.
The most recent payment was for the six-month period ending February 28, 1961. Orange County as a whole, including unincorporated areas, received $172,064 for the period.

Anaheim Landing
Some miles of beach smooth untamed,
Two buildings of long standing,
Whose usefulness long unclaimed
Makes the Anaheim Landing.
These now shelter from the sun
And at night your dreams corral,
Here's a place to have clean fun,
Exercise your lungs and yell.
Once ships exchanged cargo here,
Use of buildings this explains
But was all long in the rear
So shield your mind from all strains.
When rakness crowds out daylight,
A lantern makes a shadow,
Your companion through the night
Matters not how far you go.
If the tide be high or low,
Your walk is unmolested,
White caps know how far to go,
Their powers have been tested.
A pleasant spot for sun bath,
Then a plunge into the deep,
Sunburn hales the aftermath,
Thus a night of restless sleep.
But the dawn breaks all unrest,
A campfire in the making.
Clams and shells here by the score
May be gathered on the place.
No disturbance anywhere,
Seagulls and the daring waves
Break the silence in the air,
Yet all is calm as each craves.
An enemy luring there,
When bathing be on your guard.
Might bring to you great despair,
A sting-ray is a blackguard.
Seagulls now around you flop
From a distance to be sure,
Hopings for some snack you drop,
Nothing else would them here lure.
Making chaos out of calm,
Then in rushed humanity,
All turned to hilarity,
Fun o'ercame the soothing balm.
Now it's just a lovely beach,
It joins forces with the others.
Auto horns now muff your speech
And other racket smothers.
