Beta Sigmas Have Candlelight Dinner
Xi Eta Eta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held a candlelight dinner at the home of outgoing President Ruby Tegler recently. The Order of the Rose degree also was conferred on the chapter's Girl of the Year, Ada Salmon.
Participating were: Mrs. J. Tegeler, Mrs. Kit Valentine, Mrs. D. Nelson, Mrs. D. Henry, Mrs. William Box, Mrs. R. Davis and Mrs. D. Means, Mrs. Virginia Farrington and Mrs. R. Howard presented the yellow rose and scroll.
New officers were installed. They are: president, Mrs. D. Henry; vice-president, Mrs. J. Rea; treasurer, Mrs. R. Smith; recording secretary, Mrs. Virginia Farrington.
Eta chapter will be Mrs. R. Howard, SCC newly-elected president; Mrs. Kit Valentine, Mrs. D. Means, Mrs. Jeanne Joyce, Mrs. P. Long, Mrs. D. Henry, Mrs. J. Rea and Mrs. R. Davis.
Western Elects
Western High's chapter of Future Business Leaders of America has elected its officers for the '61-'62 school year. The new officers are: Ginny Bird, president; Joyce Hamel, vice-president; Sally Green, secretary; Shirly Bartulov, treasurer, and Joyce Gaines, historian.
It was also announced that summer camping in mountains for both boys girls is being offered for second year by the Ana Park and Recreation Department.
The camp session will be vided into the element fourth through fifth grade and the junior high levels.

Other members attending were Mrs. A. Menefee, Mrs. E. Roberts, Mrs. E. Karp, Mrs. P. Long and Mrs. R.. Dixon. Guests were Mrs. Bess Wyman of Tau chapter and member-at-large Mrs. Earlene Hatch.

Western High's chapter of Future Business Leaders of America has elected its officers for the '61-'62 school year. The new officers are: Ginny Bird, president; Joyce Hamel, vice-president; Sally Green, secretary; Shirly Bartulov, treasurer, and Joyce Gaines, historian.
It was also announced that William Earle will be next year's sponsor. Mrs. Bertha Wilson and Arthur Embree, this year's sponsors, are going to teach at Savanna High and Magnolia High, respectively.
Young Republicans Slate Barbeque
Festivities begin at dusk Friday, June 16, at the All-County Roundup, sponsored by the Orange County Young Republicans, according to social chairman Barbara Lara of Orange.
The Union Oil Company picnic grounds in Brea will be the scene of dancing, entertainment, drawing and prizes. Barbequed steaks, beans and all the trimmings are included in the admission.

Summer camping in mountains for both boys girls is being offered for second year by the Anaconda Park and Recreation Department.
The camp session will be divided into the elementary fourth through fifth grade and the junior high levels. Elementary session will from July 29 to Aug. 5; junior high session will from Aug. 5 to Aug. 12.
The camp is located at Cable Bellows on the south side Big Bear Lake, two miles from Big Bear City.
Both sessions will be swimming, boating, fishing hiking, crafts, cook-outs horseback riding. At the junior high session, dry land skis and many other teenage activities will also be available.
Each camper will be covered by insurance going to, while and coming back from the camp.
Scholarship Group Installs Officers
Western High School's chaperon of the California Scholarship Federation held its annual Senior Banquet at the Garfield Grove Community Church, included in the agenda was the stallation of officers.
The new officers are: St. Brauch, president; Jane Geske vice president; Barbara Ducche secretary and Betsy Prettie treasurer.
Highlight of the evening with the presentation of the Gailbearer Awards.

St Jude Sets Special Class
One of the most extensive programs in education for child-bearing will hold its first class at St. Jude Hospital next Wednesday. Subsequent meetings will be held each Wednesday in the staff room from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
The six-week course which is a joint undertanking with the American National Red Cross is planned as a continuous program, a new class starting every sixth week. Mrs. Marie Lenihan is the Red Cross instructor.
The course material has been carefully accumulated and developed through the cooperation of the American National Red Cross Nursing Committee and the American Medical Association and approved by the St. Jude Medical Staff. It is intended to help expectant parents understand pregnancy and child birth and the physical emotional needs of the new mother father and baby.

Seniors Chosen All-Star Game
A total of 50 out high school seniors from Orange County high were nominated by a coaches committee.

It is intended to help expectant parents understand pregnancy and child birth and the physical emotional needs of the new mother, father and baby.
Sister Patrice, of the St. Jude Maternity Division, in discussing the new program stated, "By the time for the baby's arrival everyone understands his and her changing family role and is prepared for the responsibilities and re-adjustments which then will be undertaken with confidence."
Sets 'Silver Tea'
The Tri Hi Y Clubs of Western High School will hold a mother and daughter "Silver Tea" June 6 at the Anaheim Methodist church. The "Silver Tea" is the last social event of the year for the Y girls. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the "Club of the Year" award.
The tea was organized by the Women's Committee, under the direction of Vivian Roberts, Western Tri Hi Y coordinator.
Grad Party Planned for June 15 in Gym
Mark Offers Camp Sessions
Summer camping in the mountains for both boys and girls is being offered for the second year by the Anaheim Park and Recreation Department.
The camp session will be divided into the elementary, fifth through high grades, and junior high levels. The elementary session will run once again the citizens of Anaheim are sponsoring an All-Nite Graduation Party for the graduating seniors of Western and Anaheim High Schools June 15 beginning at 10 p.m. in the Western High gymnasium.
A committee of interested Anaheim citizens has been organized, principally by Jack Poly, president, and Mrs. Freck, vice-president, to plan will be held after the com-this annual event. The party mencement ceremonies. The committee contracted Les Brown and his band to play for the occasion.

Light of the evening was presentation of the Gold Bearer Awards.
Chemists to Meet
"Is the Magic Gone?" The answer to this provocative question will be given by Professor J. Arthur Campbell of Harvey Mudd College at the annual Ladies' Night meeting of the Orange County Subsection of the American Chemical Society May 18.
Member chemists, non-members, and their wives are invited to attend a luau at the Kono Hawaii, 226 S. Harbor Blvd., Santa Ana, at 6:30 p.m. Professor Campbell's presentation will follow at 8 p.m. Dress will be informal: Aloha shirts and slacks for the men, muu muus for the ladies.

Guild Members Named at St. Jude
Twenty-one new provisionals were welcomed by members of St. Jude Hospital Guild at the regular guild meeting in the hospital staff room Monday morning.
The new class was introduced by membership chairman Mrs. John Brancheau and welcomed by President Mrs. Richard Dishman.
The new members will attend an indoctrination meeting in the staff room next Monday morning where provisional chairman Mrs. Donald Mahoney and her co-chairman Mrs. William Lenahan, will outline the responsibilities of guild membership. Upon completion of 52 volunteer hours, the provisionals will be installed as active members.
New provisionals include Mmes. D. M. Addison, John Bleier, Robert Chambers, Peter Dolbeo, Robert Erickson, Norris Mittee for St. Jude Hospital Expansion Fund, told of the work of that organization and asked members to help attain the goal of $100,000 needed to guarantee construction of the new 125 bed addition.
Miss Arroues explained the perpetual memorial for mothers which is to be installed in the hospital lobby and Mrs. Angelo Ferraris, chairman of the monthly polio clinic, announced an indoctrination clinic for volunteers at 10 a.m. May 19.
Next regular meeting of the group is June 12.

Seniors Chosen for All-Star Game
A total of 50 outstanding high school seniors from northern Orange County high schools were nominated by a special coaches committee from which 30 will be selected to represent the North in the 3rd Annual North-South All Star football game to be played Aug. 17 in the Santa Ana Bowl.
Don Davis of Anaheim's Western high will be the head coach of the North team, winner of the first two games played in this series.
No more than five, but at least one player from each school will be represented on the final team, according to Sheldon Dack, president of the Brea Lions Club, sponsors of the charity game.
From Anaheim's Sunset League championship squad the following were nominated: Ron Burt, Jim Miller, Doug Ellerts, Tom Scalli, Jerry Spatz, Ron Elder and Bill Allen. In last year's game, win by the North, 40-26, Bob Luecke, Rick Scheffler and Mike Rice of Anaheim were outstanding.

Adeline Schroeder was presented with a pin in honor of 500 hours volunteer work at Long Beach Veterans Hospital.
Florence Carroll reported fifteen dollars donated to the cancer fund.
Refreshments were served by Germaine Moreno and Ann Stakemiller.
