Sherriff’s Department Gives Prevention Tips
"The protection of property is one of the basic responsibilities of law enforcement," stated Sheriff James A. Musick, Sheriff of Orange County. With this thought in mind, a positive program of burglary prevention has been instituted by the Sheriff’s Department.
Such a program depends largely upon the active interest and participation of every citizen. Knowing that no one wants his home to be entered by an "uninvited guest", the Sheriff’s Department has prepared several pamphlets to aid the citizens of Orange County to help prevent burglaries, or in the event one does occur, to facilitate the solving of the crime and the return of the property.
One pamphlet includes a "Tally List" so that the homeowner may list all valuable and identifiable items in the various parts of the residence. The list provides space to list information on location of article in the residence, type of article, make and description and serial number. In the event of an entry and theft of any of the articles, the homeowner can readily furnish the Sheriff’s Department or local Police Department with this valuable information which will greatly enhance the chance for a successful investigation of the crime and the return of the property.
IF A BURGLARY DOES OCCUR . . .
1. Call the Sheriff’s Department or Police Department as soon as the burglary is discovered.

IF A BURGLARY DOES OCCUR ...
1. Call the Sheriff's Department or Police Department as soon as the burglary is discovered.
2. Disburb nothing.
3. Give the investigating officer all the requested information, and any additional information such as description of any suspicious persons or cars seen in the area either before or after the burglary.
4. Even though you are not aware of any burglary, be alert to any suspicious persons or cars in your neighborhood. Attempt to obtain a complete description of persons and autos. License numbers taken on a hunch may prove to be a valuable lead.
In addition, the Sheriff's Department has instituted a "vacation check" where a citizen of the unincorporated area of Orange County who is going on vacation may call the Sheriff's Department and request their residence be checked by a patrol car.
BEFORE VACATION ...
1. Notify the Sheriff's Department or local Police Department

City League Tourney Results
Competing in a pre-season, double elimination tournament were 53 city teams with 24 from the Industrial League, 16 from the Church League, eight from the City League, and six from the Service League.
The purpose of these elimination tournaments was to determine the eligible teams and plays, practice for the teams, and the proper placement of teams in leagues for the season.
Rating as the favorites from the Industrial AA League were: Beckman, Disneyland, Nortronics, and Dixiecup. Bill Bergen of Nortronics, pitched a no-hitter to start the tournament off. It was followed by an upset by the Disneyland team over the pre-season favorite, Beckman, 5-4.
In the Church AA League, Silverado and St. Boniface are rated favorites. Bob's Placentia, the Hangout, and the Doll Hut are league favorites for the City League.
It was a toss-up in the Service League between the Anaheim Park and Recreation Department, Fullerton Fire Department, and the Anaheim Police Department, with the Recreation Department coming in as a dark horse.
