The Woman's World SECTION B, PAGE 1 NATIONAL HOSPITAL WEEK—Hospitals in Orange County and throughout the nation are celebrating National Hospital Week May 7 to 13, held each year during the week of Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Typical of the theme, “Your Hospital—a Community Partnership,” and our “heritage of health” is this young couple leaving the hospital with a new and happy baby. This is the Tod Antona second child, born to an era where patient care is constantly improving through medical advances, the development of new equipment and services, and better training of personnel. Navy Mothers Pick Officers The May meeting of the only Navy Mothers Club in Orange County was ection of officers day for the year to begin June 6. The home of the present adjutant, Mrs. Edith Scott, 120 E. Alberta, was the scene of the election and plans for coming activities were made. Plans are in the making for a conducted tour of Juvenile Hall this month and in June Anaheim will host the Southeast District Naval Mothers. Anaheim Facilities Mark National Hospital Week One out of every eight persons in Orange County will be admitted to a hospital this year. They will find the very best of health care because of the full partnership of an enlightened public, a learned and inspired medical profession and a dedicated hospital staff. They will find their “heritage of health” in the theme of National Hospital Week, May 7 to 13. That theme is “Your Hospital—a Community Partnership.” The American Hospital Assn., sponsoring the annual observance, said, “The hospital’s major responsibility in its community partnership is patient care. Patient care is constant improving through medical advances, the development of new equipment and services, and better training of personnel. “Two responsibilities of the hospital,” an AHA representative pointed, are education and training of personnel, and medical research. “An additional responsibility of hospitals is preventive medicine. Hospitals assist in detecting and reporting communicable diseases, and offer education programs in such areas as pre-natal care, nutrition and mental hygiene.” Ebell Club Hears Travel Experience "Search for Paradise" was the title of Bill Beer's travel film which he narrated for the general meeting of the Junior Ebell Club of Anaheim. Beer was one of five young men who traveled to England and bought a 42-foot sailboat. Though none of them knew the first thing about sailing, they confidently boarded their boat and sailed south and west seeking knowledge and new answers to man's perennial quest for the perfect way of life. Their adventures, mishaps, the people and places they saw, and the answer they found were beautifully presented in this film. Mrs. Arthur Pressel, president, introduced Orange District officers and welcomed husbands. A brief business meeting, during which the Juniors voted to give $500 to the Senior Ebell Club for the building and loan fund, was followed by installation of officers for the club year 1961-62. Mrs. Larry Whitesides, presi dent, Orange District Federation of Women's Clubs, junior membership, greeted and formally installed each new officer. Mrs. George Reed, incoming president, has chosen as her theme "Climb Every Mountain." Cupcakes decorated to represent specific mountains were presented by Mrs. Whitesides as she outlined the duties involved for each new officer as she climbs her individual mountain during the term of office. Mrs. Edward Strickler was chairman of the tea committee and tied in the travel theme of the program with the table setting using a large world globe as a centerpiece. Since the May meeting is Men's Night, Arthur Pressel and George Reed were in charge of the tea table. Hostesses were Mmes. Ralph Stokes, John Tontl, John McGrew, Gene Walloch, G. Robert Hales, Edward Plehal, Ted Schultz, Alvin Tanner, A. J. Winegar, John Ward and Robert Webb.
