QUEEN NAMED—Gov. Brown congratulates Miss Sylvia Lopez, Anaheim County 316, for her selection of Miss California LULAC at the group's annual convention in Anaheim last weekend. Assisting the state's top executive is Hector Godinez, national president of the organization.
Western Sets Annual Concert
Friday, May 12, the Western High School A Cappella Choir will present its annual Spring Concert.
This singing group, directed by Alex Encheff, will perform in the Fremont auditorium at 8 p.m.
The public, as well as the students and faculty, are invited to attend.
As part of the concert, the choir will present nine choral numbers, including selections from Handel's Messiah.
Bloodbank Scheduled By Institute
At the meeting held by O. Lady of the Rosary Institute 109 (Anaheim YLI) Mrs. Dawn Prichard, chairman of the Bloodbank, announced that the next bloodbank will be held at the Anaheim Ebell Clubhouse Cypress and Helena Sts., Friday, May 26, 2 to 6:30 p.m.
She urged members to participate in this project. Appointments are necessary and should be made through the Red Cross PR 4-3782.
A potluck dinner is scheduled for Monday evening, May 15 in the IOOF Hall honoring the past presidents of the Institute and also in celebration of the 38th birthday of the Institute.
The Goodwill Industries will present their "June Bride" fashion show after the dinner.
Delegates nominated to attend grand convention, which will be held June 14 to 18 at Stockton, were Mrs. Dawn Prichard and Mrs. Bart Pasin Alternates are Mrs. Floyd R. Berding and Mrs. Gordon Clark.

Anaheim Order Observes Third Year
On Saturday evening, May 6,

The women and girls' work committee of the Anaheim YMCA announces a class in beginning swim instruction for girls in the third, fourth, fifth and six grades.
Classes will begin May 16,
from 3:30 to 4:30 and 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on each Tuesday and Thursday. The last class will be on June 13.

Members from 16 of the United Lodges of Southern California joined the Anaheim lodge in celebrating their anniversary.
The program of the evening included selections by the Mozart Chair of Anaheim High School under the direction of Cary Gibbs.
Both the choir and guest vocalist, Mel Arkelian, entertained at the second anniversary of the lodge and were invited to return by popular request. Mel,
15-year-old student at Montebello High School, was formerly with the Mitchell Boys Choir.
Clementino Capparelli was presented as queen of the Anaheim lodge. Miss Capparelli will represent the lodge at the state convention of the Sons of Italy in Los Angeles in June.
Honored guests at the dinner were Keith Murdoch, city manager of Anaheim, and the Rev. Cornelius Jani of La Purissima Mission.
