Millar Jr., an Orange County Hughes Aircraft Company executive, as chairman of the 1961 county Heart Fund drive has been announced by Dr. Research Ship Charts Three New Currents A recent research cruise of the University of California’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography off the west coast of South America has confirmed the existence of three major WALTER E. MILLER JR. John F. Nielsen, president of the Orange County Heart Association. The fund campaign, to be conducted next month, will be highlighted by several special events among them the crowning of a "Queen of Hearth," and her maids-in-waiting, who will reign until February 26. Now a resident of Santa Ana, Miller is a past president of the Orange Coast YMCA, the Anaheim Kiwanis, a director of the Personnel Industrial Relations Association, and is on the board of directors of the Orange County Heart Association and Orange Coast YMCA. Regarding the forthcoming campaign, he said: "Heart Fund contributions make possible the support of cardiovascular research here and aid scientists in clinics and laboratories throughout the nation. Research has top priority in the association's program and in the last 12 years great progress in saving hearts through new methods of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention have been attributed to the heart work." Heart Fund dollars support broad programs of public and professional education and community service, beneficial to all of us. Although we have learned a great deal about the human heart, it is only through the scientific advances made possible by research that we control and perhaps reduce heart fatalities." Miller declared that heart and blood vessel diseases are still the nation's Number 1 health enemy.
