BROOKHURST ANAHEIM (1 Block West of Ball Rd.) PR 2-5355 Had dinner the other evening at TIMPONE’S in Anaheim. They serve delicious Italian dinners. I ordered a scrumptious antipasto with a wonderful sausage pizza (the sausage is the greatest, they make their own). In fact, everything that I have ever had here has been wonderful. TIMPONE’S gives excellent service, fine food at reasonable prices. The TIMPONE family are such hard workers too and really go 'way out to please. Stop here at either location—Downey or Anaheim. We went to Disneyland to celebrate (lots of fun, even for adults, and so nice to go in the winter when the tourist trade isn't heavy). Then we dropped by the CHALET Restaurant near the Disneyland entrance for steak dinners, a treat of treats. They serve fine eastern corn-fed beef, char-broiled to perfection, with large tossed salad (choice of dressing—the roquefort is so good, good), and large Idaho baked potato with scads of whipped butter or cheese and chives. Another specialty of this delightful Swiss village restaurant is light-as-a-feather pancakes. My favorites, especially for dessert, are fresh strawberry filled and topped with whipped cream. The kids love this family restaurant. Your friendly host: Bob Stewart. Have you tried O'GARRITY'S yet? This is another delightful family restaurant, owned and hosted by that attractive couple, Dolline and Lew Garrity. Breakfast, lunch or dinner. O'GARRITY'S serve a beef stew to end all beef stews. Choice beef (all fat removed) marinated in fine red wine, with fresh garden vegetables, mushrooms, rice and herbs. Fried chicken that's out of this world, prepared in the deep South manner. Pancakes made from their own special recipes, so light and tender. They also feature a salad and dessert bar (the tarts are tartsational. Stop here at O'GARRITY'S, you will be pleased. This club was formed 'way back in 1929 by a new group of firemen in Long Beach, with 20 members. They bought a bottle of champagne (this will go to the last remaining member). This year the party was attended by 10 members and spouses at the ANAHEIM BOWL. They tell that they had a ball, great steaks, service and entertainment. This week the ANAHEIM BOWL feature the riotous Wilder Bros.-they are truly great. But to get back to the Last Man's Club. The members present were the Russel Thompson, Harry Claytons, Jack McGreees, Richard Clementses, Amos Heneises, Tony Valenzuelas, LeRoy Lakes and the Clinton Meckleys. The following members were unable to attend: Bob Lewis, Eugene Hawes, George Stanton, Kenny Miller, Joe Dunne, Owen Stanton, Hubert Hagens, Ira Doyle. The following members are deceased; Harry Andrews and William Craig. Visited the TWIN FLAMES SUPPER CLUB in Long Beach the other evening. Had a terrific steak dinner for only 80 cents. The steaks were just right, as I cooked them myself. After broiling the steak over an open fireplace, I helped myself to garbanzo beans and tossed saled (all I wanted).
