Orange Coast Sail To New Regatta
Winning by default in the Caltech Invitational regatta Sunday, the Orange Coast College sailing team will carry their undefeated record into the last regatta prior to the Pacific Coast championships when they sponsor the Southern Series regatta at Newport Harbor Yacht Club December 12.
The awesome Pirate squad found no competition on hand when they made the trip to Los Angeles Harbor last Sunday to participate in the Caltech Invitational. A lone representative from Caltech was on deck to run the regata, but Luther Hospital Opens On Monday
A brief prayer service at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, will mark the opening of the Martin Luther Hospital, 1825 W. Romneya Dr. in Anaheim, administrator Arthur G. Turner announced today.
Turner said a number of reservations for medical, surgical and obstetrical cases have already been made at the hospital, located on Romneya at Euelid Ave., just south of the Riverside Freeway.

The awesome Pirate squad found no competition on hand when they made the trip to Los Angeles Harbor last Sunday to participate in the Caltech Invitational. A lone representative from Caltech was on deck to run the regata, but teams from other Southland colleges did not put in an appearance. Thus did the champion Orange Coast College Pirates continue their complete domination of intercollegiate sailing on the Pacific Coast.
The season's record for the Bucs now includes an overwhelming victory in the opening regata, sponsored by Occidental on Oct. 16, a smashing triumph at Santa Barbara on Oct. 30, close but decisive victory in the Cal Poly Invita-tional on Nov. 6, and a team win over Occidental on Nov. 27.
Faculty Party
President and Mrs. O. Cope Budge, of Southern California College, have invited members of the college faculty to a dinner and an evening of social fellowship at the Sweden Inn on December 13 at 6:30 p.m. It has been customary for members of the faculty to enjoy this type of social evening just before the college Christmas vacation.
President Budge will report on college progress during the evening and a number of gifts will be exchanged.

Gov. Brown
Governor Edmund G. Brown declared last week he is determined to keep California's budget in balance, despite a drop in revenue and the rising demand for State services.
This and other phases of the legislative program which he will present to the 1961 session demanded his immediate attention on his return to Sacramento from a good-will tour of South America.
During his weekly news conference, the Governor told reporters: "No new taxes will be proposed by me in my budget message.
"We have carefully gone over the estimated incomes and the problems of the future of this State and the great problems we have.
"With my department heads we are demanding absolute economy."

In his speech the next day to the 45th annual convention of the National Association of Stae Auditors, the Governor elaborated: "I am determined that our State government will continue to pay its bills," he said.
"The hallmark of good State government, as I see it, is public service marked by foresight and fiscal responsibility."
The Governor said that despite reductions in income, he intends to push forward in his request for the elimination of a sales tax on prescription drugs.
