FOR EXCELLENCE IN DINING AND ENTERTAINMENT UN GALORE AT THESE TOWNS ON THE GO with DORIS B4—Anaheim Gazette (Anaheim, Thursday, Nov. 3, 1960) I had lunch the other noon at the famous SAM'S SEAFOOD in Surfside. Their lunches and dinners here are wonderful. The halibut is one of my favorites. This attractive spot is known all over the world. In fact, many celebrities make SAM'S a habit. Jack LaLanne, Brod Crawford, Will Rogers Jr., George Putnam, Tom Duggan, Leo Carrillo, to name a few. If it's seafood you want, this is the place. Steaks, chops, fowl, etc., also are available here, prepared in the same fine manner. The Outtrigger Bar is fabulous, with loads of exotic appeal. You will be charmed nightly by that talented gentleman at the organ, Jimmy Means. SAM'S SEAFOOD also features a gift... "LUCKY GOLD STRIKE"—Walter Knott of Knott's Berry Farm takes pleasure in distributing the company's annual profit sharing checks to employees of the famed restaurant and Grost Town. "Lucky gold strike" badges were worn by the smiling recipients. TIMPONE'S, noted for outstanding Italian dining, has two locations—one in Downey and the other in Anaheim. . . Pizza, mostaccioli, spaghetti, lasagne, etc. . . One of my favorite dinners consists of antipasto (salad with Italian salami, anchovies, imported cheeses, olives, peppers) . . followed by spaghetti, prepared in the Timpone manner with their home-made sausage, with hot garlic bread loaded with imported cheese . . . and diago red (if desired). . . These fine folks use only the best of imported ingredients in all their preparations. . So, if it's the most in Italian dishes, you can't go wrong here. . If you go the jazz route, let me recommend THE CLUB SOMBRERO in Belmont Shore. . . Jack Reynolds strives to see that you get the best. . . The Clyde Conrad Five, well known to the Shorites, are tops. . . Stop and listen. . . You will agree, it's the CLUB SOMBRERO. Your host is friendly Bob Boyle. One of my favorite restaurants in the Anaheim area is THE ROBERTS ROOM, owned by that charming couple, Katherine and Joe Roberts. Excellence in dining, entertainment and atmosphere. I would suggest that you try the tenderloin of beef brochettes, with button mushrooms, green peppers and broiled tomatoes, with soup, salad, potato, dessert and coffee. All of this for only $2.50. You may also have lobster tail or prime rib for this same price. THE ROBERTS ROOM's specialty is frog legs prepared in a delectable manner.
