Back To School Means Driving Hazards The laughing voices of children going back to school this Fall have a special significance for motorists. School zones will be thickly populated with youngsters—many of whom are crossing streets alone for the first time. Take extra care in these areas. Most important: drive slowly! Little fifth grade traffic police can warn the oncoming driver of a group crossing the street... but it's the motorist's job to watch for other driving hazards. Be on the alert for playings that roll out of the school board or streets made slippery by wet fallen leaves. You've probably covered hundreds of miles on summer outings. Remember that your tires took most of the punishment. To be on the safe side... replace worn tires... and look for tires with Tyrex cord to be sure of safe stops... smooth starts. The speaker was Ralph M. Brody, special counsel to Governor Edmund G. Brown on water matters, who addressed a meeting of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of Orange County in the Beckman Instruments building in Fullerton. “We are up against the deadline right now and cannot indulge ourselves further in the destructive luxury of delay for the sake of argument, political or regional bickering or selfishness,” he told his audience. Passage of the $1.75 billion bond issue in the November election was held up as the primary issue now confronting Californians. “I would like to urge you at all times to keep your eyes focused on the simple objectives of this water program,” Brady said. The California Water Department envisions construction of sewage and transmission facilities to bring surplus water from Northern California into southern part of the state. The speaker said the project will have additional benefits impacts on California’s economy including new investment totaling $34 billion in the project service area alone and additional income of $12 billion to 5.2 million Californians ported by two million jobs. THOSE GOOD OLD DAYS Curiosity got the better of Anne Salisbury, who works at the Emporium on Main Street in Disneyland. On several different occasions, she had noticed a little old man, cane in hand, obviously enamored with the horse-drawn vehicles of his boyhood days. Finally Anne approached the elderly gentleman and asked if he was having fun. "Sure am," he replied. "What do you like best about Disneyland?" Anne inquired. LEGAL NOTICE (Pub.
