PRODUCT OF A CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL—Cathy Weaver, above, puts on skates to play like any normal child. A far cry from the little girl who only recently was deprived of such activity because of an ailing heart before an operation in a children's hospital restored her to normalcy. Cathy hopes Orange County will have its own children's hospital so others may be spared the hardships to travel and doubtful space available in Los Angeles hospitals.

Jaycees Polio Drive Funds Boost Hospital Commitments
Commitments amounting to more than $350,000 of the $800,000 required in local community funds to insure the forthcoming 2 million dollar Children's Hospital of Orange County, to be built in Orange, have been received to date, according to an announcement today by Dr. Samuel J. Camarata, president, and Richard W. Taylor, chairman of the campaign council. Among recent contributions has been another $2,000 from the Anaheim Junior Chamber of Commerce polio shot drives.
The total pledged amount is due for a substantial boost in the next 10 days, they said, when many of the larger firms will transmit their pledges before the Oct. 15 date set for special gifts.
Community chairmen in all Orange County cities are being asked to conclude their special gifts solicitation rapidly, the officials said, due to the need to report densely to government officials whose matching fund allocations are to be decided soon. Urgency of community action to assure the large project was pointed out by the leaders.
It was also announced that the Children's Hospital campaign office will move on Oct. 7 to the second floor of the pharmacy building at the new Santa Ana Medical Arts Center located at 1125 E. 17th St. in Santa Ana, where the organization will wind up the final days of the campaign in donated quarters, arranged by Dr. William K. Friend, vice-chairman of the Children's Hospital Council.
The office will retain the same telephone number, KImberly 7-6501. Ted Blanding, campaign director, reported that the state highway bulldozers were starting advance freeway construction at the present location on N. Main St. in Santa Ana which had been donated for several months by Bullocks, Inc.
Scores of volunteer workers have been busy at the office. Detailed reports on the results from each community will be released next week, Blanding said.
