Army Sgt. Donald D. Grassi Jr., whose wife, Clenda, lives at 6514 Corrine Circle, Buena Park, recently was assigned to the 2d Armored Division at Fort Hood, Tex.
Sergeant Grassi, a tank commander in Company D of the division's 67th Armor, entered the Army in 1955.
The 21-year-old sergeant attended Cathedral Preparatory High School in Erie, Pa.
Marine Pvt. Nick R. Keiser, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Keiser of 713 Hanover St., Anaheim, completed four weeks of individual combat training Aug. 5 at the Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton.
The course included the latest infantry tactics, first aid, demolitions, field fortifications and advanced schooling on weapons.
Trainees learn that all Marines are basically infantrymen, whether they serve as cooks, typists, truck drivers, or with aviation units.
Donald E. Dooley, apprentice petty officer first class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Clayton of

Donald E. Dooley, apprentice petty officer first class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Clayton of 8172 Hynes Rd., Anaheim, graduated Sept. 2 from nine weeks of recruit training at the Naval Training Center, San Diego.
Apprentice petty officers are chosen from the ranks of the seaman recruits to assist company commanders. The selection is based on individual aptitude and leadership qualities.
Alfred Kiss, airman, USN, son of Mrs. Katharina Kiss of 313 Alberta, Anaheim, graduated from the two-week aviation familiarization course on Aug. 26 at the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Memphis, Tenn.
The students were instructed in aircraft familiarization, designation, types and missions, aircraft handling, first aid, and aircraft fire fighting. Also included were related subjects in math, physics, blueprint reading, typing, moral and vocational guidance, and aviation rate familiarization.
Graduates were advanced to one of the many technical schools at the center.
Raymond F. Patterson Jr., airman, USN, son of Raymond F. Patterson of Route 1, East Ave., McKean, Pa., and Mrs. Ruth Madigan of 813 S. Magnolia Ave., Anaheim, returned to Boston, Mass., Aug. 11 aboard the anti-submarine support aircraft carrier USS Wasp after completing a two-month deployment off the west coast of Africa.
While conducting training exercises at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the Wasp was ordered to the South Atlantic as a 'force-in-readiness' to lend any necessary support to United Nations efforts in the Congo.
A good-will stop at Dakar, Senegal Republic, highlighted the trip which took the 40,000-ton flatten
after completing a two-month deployment off the west coast of Africa.

SAN DIEGO (FHTNC)—Joseph A. Dauenhauer, son of Mr. and Mrs. E, F. Dauenhauer of 3234 W. Faircrest Dr., Anaheim, graduated from recruit training Aug. 26 at the Naval Training Center here.
The graduation exercises, marking the end of nine weeks of "boot camp," included a full dress parade and review before military officials and civilian dignitaries.
In nine weeks of instruction, the "raw recruit" is developed into a Navy Bluejacket, ready for duty with the fleet.
Gerald L. Garrett, fireman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlin Garrett of 602 Gilbuck Dr., Anaheim, and Walter L. Niewohner, fire control technician third class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Niewohner of 255 N. Larch, Anaheim, are serving aboard the anti-submarine warefare aircraft carrier USS Hornet operating with the Seventh Fleet in the Far East.
James O. Culpepper, seaman apprentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter O. Culpepper of 842 Cottonwood Circle, Anaheim, is serving at the Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare School, San Diego.
