Placards have been tacked up about town by Marshal Steadman warning bicycle riders that they must observe the provisions of the city ordinance imposing a fine of not less than $10 for riding bicycles on the sidewalks. Many complaints have been brought to the authorities late of this nuisance and it is time it should be abated.
Pedestrians have some rights and bicyclists must keep off the sidewalks or they will be arrested and punished.
County surveyor Kellogg has completed a survey of the picnic grounds at Santiago canyon recently donated to the county by James Irvine. The grounds comprise 160 acres and include the most picturesque picnic grounds in Southern California. The supervisors may appoint a keeper for the grounds at a nominal salary later on.
Senora Dona Ygnacia de Gallardo, a well-known Santa Barbara vocalist, was the guest during the week of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Rimpau. The current number of Pacific Town Talk, a literary and musical journal of San Francisco, contains a photograph of the lady, together with a very flattering mention of her musical abilities.

Mrs. Wm Konig returned on Sunday from Los Angeles where she has been for some weeks past undergoing treatment for a sprained ankle sustained while learning to ride a bicycle.
Miss Marie Skinner and Cyrene McCormick drove down from Alhambra on Monday to make a short visit to the family of L. F. Lewis。

Rev. James Stone was installed as permanent pastor of the Presbyterian church on Tuesday evening in an impressive and long to be remembered service. Rev.Hopkins of Santa Ana conducted the exercises and preached an impressive sermon. Rev.Parker of Orange delivered the charge to the pastor, and Rev.Campbell of Los Angeles delivered the charge to the people.

Mrs. John Hartung entertained a number of friends at "Hearts" last Tuesday afternoon at her home on Broadway in honor of Miss Delmas, of San Jose, who is her guest. The parlors were decorated with a profusion of sweet peas and carnations. At the conclusion of the game refreshments were served. Prizes were awarded the following young ladies: The first prize, a handsome bon-bon box, fell to Miss Jessie Melrose; the second a Japanese handkerchief box, to Miss Zelma Bailey; and the consolation, a dainty pin tray, to Miss Winifred Melrose.
William Crowther returned on Monday evening from attendance upon the grand lodge of the Legion of Honor, which convened in San Francisco.
Mrs. L.E.Ledger and young son of Los Angeles, visited with relatives and friends in town last week, the guests of Mrs. LloydBailey.
Mr. and Mrs.Paul Derge leave on Monday next for a visit with Mr.Derge's parents in Wisconsin. They will visit in Chicago and other places of interest and will be absent a month or six weeks.

Henry Westenfeld, Herman Backs and Henry Knapke visited Chino over Sunday. Everything is fine over there and the sugar factory people look forward to a six months run of the sugar mill.
William and Samuel Hill are making preparations to begin the heading season in the La Habra valley and elsewhere. The season will begin about the 15th.
Dr. F.H. Houck, a young dentist from southern Oregon, a cousin of C.O.Rust, is in town with a view to locating permanently and opening an office.

Linn L.Shaw of the Santa Ana Herald has mortgaged his printing plant to George F.Hogle for the sum of $2000.
Harrison Yarnell and Josh Parker were over from Orange on Friday afternoon visiting with Druggist Derge, brother-in-law of the former gentleman.
