Following the 8:45 a.m. welcome, Charles M. Simmons, president of the Simmons Institute, will speak on "Human Relations on Parade" followed by Dr. William C. Himstreet, Associate Professor, Office Administration and Business Education, University of Southern California, whose topic will be "Enclosed Herewith." Dr. William B. Langsdorf, president of Orange County State College, speaks on "The Future of Orange County and Its College." He preceeds the 12 p.m. fashion luncheon at which Mrs. B. Alexander, fashion coordinator and training director of Haggarty's adds a famine note of interest with a presentation entitled, "Fashion Magic With Accessories." DEAR BOSS Secretary Is Modern Gunga Din The professional secretary — the Gunga Din of the boss — will be honored in Anaheim this week as citizens celebrate National Secretaries Week. An official proclamation has termed She and occasionally him "as an indispensable member of the management team." Mary . Clyde, president of the Orange Empire chapter of National Secretaries had this to say: "The boss depends on the secretary more and more in the ever-increasing tempo of daily business. "The secretary must be more than just a good stenographer. She must have the ability to type rapidly and expertly write shorthand and know how to file away papers and documents so they may be readily located. Launches Member Drive May 1; Plan 'Pops Program' Membership drive of the Anaheim Symphony Assn. will be launched May 1. Chairman of the May membership drive, and new member of the board, Mrs. R. W. Marvin Sr., explained that the Anaheim Symphony Orchestra, a community musical unit, began in 1955 as a small group of musicians who gathered together for the enjoyment of playing music. Under the conductor, Eugene Ober, high professional standards have been established. The orchestra rehearses every Wednesday evening in the Anaheim Union High School orchestra room. "Eugene Ober, rated as one of the top ten young conductors in the country is known as a 'youthful conductor with enormous musicality and control' who is presently on tour with the Rudie Sinfonetta, a Community Concert series in Canada and the East. The Association is privileged to support these artists who have established a cultural climate which has become an outstanding asset to this community," stated Mrs. Marvin. Admittance to the 1960-61 concert series at the Anaheim Union High School Auditorium will be by membership card: Adults $5, College Students $3, and Youth $1 and will include the June 11 "Pops" program. Headquarters for the May 1 to 7 drive will be at 619 N. Los Angeles St., 12 to 3 p.m. For further information on the purchase of membership tickets call Mrs. David Gordon, 2132 Minerva Charles R. Slated to cover interest areas are: William H. Johnson, DDS, Dentists; Mr. Ernest Rose, Accounting; Mrs. Jackson Moses, education; Mr. Harold Thomas, finance; Mr. Ross Willson, attorneys; Mrs. Margaret Buttree, music teachers and music associations; Mmes. James Patterson and Ernest Rose, women's organizations; Mrs. C. R. Brandon, churches; Mrs. Dena LaRue, Symphony members; Mrs. Tom Key, real estate. Mrs. Verna Clark will staff the headquarters office at 619 N. Los Angeles St. during the drive from May 1 to 7. Other board members will act as captains during the drive. New Ikette Members Honored At Dinner New members of the Anaheim Ikettes were honored recently in a dinner at Knott's Berry Farm. The new members are Mrs. Frank Alley, Helen Love, Jane Roddam, Emma Wingett, Pearl Broad, Dorthea Stanley, Betty Peterson, Lorine VanRy and Joyce Sandlin. Campbell, senior education major at Chapman College, will open Friday evening, April 22, with a reception from 6 to 9 o'clock in the ginia Purcell Gallery on the Chapman campus. Oil paintings and metal sculpture are featured in the exhibition, which will remain on display through May 6 from 10:00 to 5 weekdays. Campbell attended Rochester Minnesota, Junior College and Long Beach State College before entering Chapman in the fall of 1958. After graduation plans to teach art at the high school level. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell and their daughter Erin live at E. Palm, Orange. This is the last of five senior art exhibitions at the college this spring. Whistler's "Portrait of the tist's Mother" was rejected at for exhibit in the Royal Academy and remained unsold for 20 years. Forty years later it was insured for $500,000. Grad Night' Set June 16 For High Schoolers Grad Night," the end of school ball, will be held Thursday, June 16 at Anaheim High School. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m. on both days, according to district president Mrs. Ben Byland. At 8:45 Thursday, there will be workshops on amenities and ways and means, with six presidents of various clubs in the district conducting the meetings for each group. Friday's workshops will cover federation extension and press and publicity, with six different presidents for each workshop in charge. Tustin Area Women's Club will be the hostess club for the convention, and Mrs. O. C. Phillips, will welcome delegates. During the morning session, reports will be given by Mrs. Walter Caplinger of La Habra, coordinator of junior membership, as well as five presidents of clubs throughout the county: Mmes. Bradford Jones, Orange County Clemente Woman's Club; Warren Riley, Woman's Improvement Club of La Habra; O. C. Phillips, Tustin Area Woman's Club; George Teale, Woman's Club of Laguna Beach; L. Reveal Plans For $250,000 YMCA Program Blueprints for a $250,000 expansion of the North Orange County Young Men's Christian Assn were unfolded during a dinner here last week. About 250 leaders from six Orange County cities attended the meeting held in the Chrysler Bldg. in Anaheim. First step in the program is construction of a new center in Fullerton and the purchase of branch sites in Buena Park and La Habra.
