B2-Anaheim Gazette (Anaheim, Thursday, April 21, 1960)
READERS WRITE . . .
Edditor's Note: This is a new feature of the Anaheim Gazette—a department open to the artistic and intellectual expressions of the readers. The following poem was written by Mrs. Joylyn Harbst of Anaheim.
A Boy Without a Daddy
A boy without a daddy,
That's what my son has to be,
Although he cannot help it,
It's just like that you see.
How I wish that things were different,
So my son could now his Dad,
To feel the love and friendship,
That every boy must have.
I can see the hurt that fills his heart,
When another's Dad comes home,
He can't understand the reason why,
He has to stand alone.
A boy without a Daddy
Is a sad, sad sight to see,
Please help me God to guide him,
Through all life's misery.
To try to be both Mom and Dad,
Is very hard to do,
I'll try my best, my very best,
For this task I must persue.
As each day goes by I stop and pray,
Maybe someday this will be,
That my son will know a Daddy,
And erase the hurt I see.

A 41-year-old Anaheim woman who was killed under the wheels of a moving train here Friday probably leaped to her death, police said.
The mutilated body was identified as Mrs. Stella Skinner of 306 N. Vine St.
Police said Patrick Anthony Baccar, a fireman on the Santa Fe switch engine, said he saw the woman walking east along the track and then jump in front of the train as it drew abreast of her.
THE TRAGEDY occurred at 6:50 a.m. at the Sycamore St. crossing.
Despondency and ill health were given as reasons for the alleged suicide.

Census 'Mopping Up' Set Saturday
"Mopping operations" of the 1960 Census in Orange County will get under way Saturday.
Census takers, having completed the initial phase of the population and housing enumeration, now turn their attention to the detailed questionnaires left at every fourth household.
Many persons have not returned the questionnaire to census headquarters and others have incorrectly filled it out, said Census Supervisor Abbott Williams.
The "mop up" will include visits to these homes to get necessary and correct information.
Six out of every seven counties in the United States are predominantly rural.
