Anaheim Gazette-A7 (Anaheim, Thursday, April 21, 1960) LOOK! MODERN Fair Board Lets Contract For Jr. Exhibit Bldg. The Pascoe Steel Corp. of Pomona today has been named prime contractor for the construction of a "skel-eton" building which will house junior exhibits in the 1960 Orange County Fair. THE CONTRACT was let by the board of directors of the fair (32nd District Agricultural Assn.) in a special meeting. The Pascoe Kimberly-Clark Plans Expand Double Size of Tissue Production capacity of Kimberly Clark Corp. mill here been learned. Plans are to add an additional 350,000 square feet to plant at an estimated cost of $10 million. The mill has already doubled its capacity during its five year operation at 2001 E. Orangethorpe Ave. THE EXPANSION program will bring the total capital K-C investment locally to $20 million. The work force of 300 persons will be expanded to 500, according to Thomas Howe, plant manager. Daily production of the plant includes 10 car loads of Klosenex and Delsey tissues. at the Fullerton plant since opened. None has been given high walking papers at Neeah since 1937. Canvas sidewall will be used to enclose the 70-foot by 220-foot building during this year's fair, said Stewart W. Yost, fair manager. School District Orders Whopping Pile of Supplies Anaheim Elementary School District has let a whopping number of bids for material and equipment. These include: Stationers Corp. of Los Angeles, $9727.96; Pioneer Stationers, Inc., of Los Angeles, $4468.64; VOSE-CO of Bakersfield, $6034.06; Macpherson Stationers of Los Angeles, $11,180.19; Bates and the Bernstein Co. of Culver Ditto, Inc., of Long Beach, $6287.80; and the Bernstein Co. of Culver City, $304.10 for a total of $45,462.79. Winners in physical education bids were Wisser Sporting Goods, Anaheim, $1611.15; Bob Williams Sporting Goods, Anaheim, $176.80; and Hammatt and Sons, Anaheim, $2193.16. The Statue of Liberty on Bed-loe's Island, New York Harbor, weighs 450,000 pounds (225 tons). THE EXPANSION program will bring the total capital K-C investment locally to $20 million. There are 32 K-C plants scattered across the land. However, the Fulerton mill is the only one west of the Mississippi. Sheets of wood pulp are shipped into the plant via Santa Fe rails. Through water and steam processing the pulp is transformed into thin sheets of paper 160-inch wide. These, subsequently are reduced to Delsey and Kleenex. Erection of machine No. 2 will broaden output at the Fullerton plant to take in Kleenex table napkins, Kleenex towels, Kotex feminine napkins and Fems napkins. The stability of K-C, its working conditions and benefits were underlined by Howe when he disclosed no employee has been fired. 200 Acres North Of City Bought Two hundred acres of undeveloped land north of Anaheim has been purchased by the Garden Co., Ltd., for an estimated $1,-500,000, according to Joseph W. Drown. The property surrounds the Yorba Linda Country Club. Price of the land was not revealed, but the purchase figure was based on the wholesale valuation of the property. The land will be used for residential development. More than 100,000 new products have appeared on the American marekt since 1900.
