The council paid $100,000 for the site, which is known as Lost Valley, according to Empire Council President Karl L. Davis. The beautiful valley is located high country about eight miles northeast of Warner Hot Springs. The valley is situated at the 4-foot level and is surrounded by 250,000 acres of primitive virgin land that encompasses Borrego Desert State Park, Cleveland National Forest and Coyotes Indian Reservation. Plans for the $2 million structure were disclosed to City Council by a special five man committee that included two Councilmen and two of the property owners and a neutral party. The medical facility will be built by the B. L. Metcalf Co. on a 15 acre site on Euclid Avenue near the Riverside Freeway. Groundbreaking has tentatively been set for Feb. 24.
