Cal. Guard Sets Summer Camp Dates Camp dates for California Army National Guardsmen were announced today by Maj. Gen. Earle M. Jones, state adjutant general. The men in 259 units from Calexico to Yreka will take their 15 days of intensive training at various Army camps and installations between March 5 and August 20th. Estimated attendance at all Army National Guard encampments is expected to be approximately 18,500 men, General Jones said. THE ANNUAL 15-day field training periods include travel time and whenever possible the units will move to and from camp sites by military vehicles. An estimated 1,500 military vehicles will move the main body of troops. Gen. Jones said the promary aim of this year's encampment is training at the unit level in tactical assignments. Units will have a minimum of four consecutive days and nights in tactical bivouac with emphasis on realistic night training and operation under tactical conditions. Dispersion, concealment from aerial observation, local security, and protective measures applicable to atomic and chemical, biological and radiological warfare will be stressed. First outfit to train will be the 168th Ordnance Company, Anaheim, Calif., Friday, Feb. 19, 1960.
