News About Our Service Men
OKINAWA (FHTNC)—Marine Pvt. Anthony E. DeGeorge, nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin E. Jenkins, 1667 S. Humor Dr., is serving with the Third Marine division on Okinawa. The Third division is the Seventh Fleet's force-in-readiness in the far east.
LONG BEACH, Calif. (FHTNC) Leslie L. Trott, fireman apprentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Jackson, 2558 Heffron Dr., is serving aboard the heavy cruiser USS Los Angeles at the naval shipyard, Long Beach, Calif.
CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (FHTNC)—Marine Cpl. Ernest R. Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Davey, 804 S. Birchleaf Dr., Anaheim, graduated Dec. 18 from the non-commissioned officer's leadership school, Camp Pendleton. During the 4-week course the students received classroom and practical training in the maneuvering and handling of troops in leadership positions.
SAN DIEGO (FHTNC)—Herbert A. Jackson, airman recruit, graduated from recruit trainee, San Diego. The graduates marked the end of weeks' of "boot camp," including full dress parade and review for military officials and civic dignitaries.
FORT MYER, Va. (AHTN)
Davey, 804 S. Birchleaf Dr., Anaheim, graduated Dec. 18 from the non-commissioned officer's leadership school, Camp Pendleton. During the 4-week course the students received classroom and practical training in the maneuvering and handling of troops in leadership positions.
SAN DIEGO (FHTNC) — Herbert A. Jackson, airman recruit, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Jackson, 805 S. Verona St., Anaheim, is scheduled to graduate Jan. 29 from recruit training at the Naval Training Center, San Diego, Calif. Apprentice petty officers are chosen from the ranks of the seaman recruits to assist company commanders. The selection is based on individual aptitude and leadership qualities.
SAIGON, VIETNAM (AHTNC) Army Capt. Donald Taylor, whose wife, Dorothy, lives at 1875 Gail Lane, Anaheim, recently arrived in Vietnam and is now a member of the military assistance advisory group in Saigon. Captain Taylor, son of Mrs. M. L. Manning, Peoria, Ill., entered the Army in 1942. The 42-year-old officer attended Central high school, Peoria, and East Tennessee State college, Johnson City.
SANTA ANA (FHTNC)—Marine TSgt. Carl D. Curtis, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Curtis, 700 Romneya Via, and husband of the former Miss Bettie Yuhasz of Plainsville, Ohio, is serving at the El Toro Marine corps air station, Santa Ana.
SCHWAMISCH GMUND, Germany (AHTNC)—Army Cpl. Theodore R. Rodriguez, 24, son of Felix B. Rodriguez, 112 Evelyn Pl., Placentia, recently participated with Battery D of the 4th Armored division's 16th artillery in the preparation and launching of an Honest John rocket in Germany. Corporal Rodriguez, a gunner in the battery in Schwabisch Gmund, entered the Army in September, 1958, and arrived overseas last April. He completed basic training at Fort Hood, Texas. He is a 1954 graduate of Valencia...

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FHTNC)—Thomas H. McHale, airman apprentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merle C. McHale, 717 Alvy St., Anaheim, graduated recently from the Aviation Familiarization school at the Naval Air Technical Training center, Memphis, Tenn.
HEILBRONN, Germany (AHTNC)—Army Pfc. James K. Sellon, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Sellon, Fullerton, recently received the expert infantryman badge while assigned to the 4th Armored division's 54th infantry in Germany. A senior rifleman in the infantry's Company C in Heilbron, he entered the Army in November, 1958, completed basic training at Fort Hood, Texas, and arrived overseas last April.
HANAU, Germany (AHTNC)—Army M/Sgt. Edward F. Berault, whose wife Anna lives at 211 Camellia St., Anaheim, recently was promoted to super grade EB while assigned to the 2nd artillery in Germany. First sergeant in the artillery's Headquarters Battery in Hanau, Berault entered the Army

U. S. FORCES, FRANCE — (FHTNC)—Army Pvt. Harry J. Cross, son of Mrs. Margaret Nel-son, Whittier, recently was assigned to the 57th Field hospital staff in France. Cross, a medical specialist in the hospitals headquarters detachment, entered the Army last June and received basic training at Fort Ord, Calif. The 17-year-old soldier, son of Harry Cross, 304 Loara St., Anabelm, attended California high school at Chula Vista, Calif.
